De Seemans Taphuis is perched on a cliff overlooking the Gansbaai harbour. The views from the balcony are, to say the least, fantastic! Many a great sunset has been seen from here with the harbour and boat lights slowly flickering on. This is a laidback restaurant and bar and beach wear is almost mandatory in summer. Winter has everyone huddling inside in the warm atmosphere. The staff and owner are extremely friendly and service cannot be faulted. De Seemans Taphuis is family friendly and there is a lawn in front of the deck and a trampoline for the kids. The meals are typical bistro-pub cuisine with some outrageous, or interesting, additions being added on a regular basis. Cold draughts are always a popular item and a good combination with the great tasting meals available. Sit down for a wholesome meal and refreshment with the family and enjoy the views of Gansbaai. The food may not be your 5 Star cuisine but it fills the gap and tastes good – even if it is your regular ol’ Joe. Although this is a family friendly establishment, I wouldn’t recommend keeping the children out late at the saloon. Things liven up at night and the bar is especially busy.
