Quiet sleepy town
Citrusdal is one of those lovely small towns where time has stood still and no one seems to be bothered by it that must. The Sandveldhuisie and museum are definitely worth a visit for the arty types and Hebron on the outskirts of town offers great tea and wine tastings as well as tea plantation tours.
Don't drive the road less travelled
We decided that due to the upgrade on the N7 we would drive the old road between Citrusdal and Clanwilliam. The sign at the beginning of the road shows potholes - well, if one only had to contend with potholes it would have been ok but doing without a road was the problem! Really one would have thought that due to the upgrade an alternative route would have been made but obviously not. Thankfully my car, not a 4X4 at all but a "platcar", made it in one piece. The drive was beautiful though and I would recommend it to anyone (if the road was actually a road).
Base Camp for R&R or adventure
Citrusdal is nestled in the foothills of the Cedarberg, providing magnificent views of farmland, vynbos and flowers.
