Highgrove House Country Hotel is situated on the Mpumalanga Escarpment 20 min away from Kruger National Park and 30 min from the Romantic Panorama Route with all the waterfalls. A true hideaway in a pastoral setting offering sweeping views over Hazyview Lowveld.

The original Colonial farmstead was constructed in 1893 and was renovated and revamped in 1990, when the luxurious garden suites were constructed, and officially opened in October 1991. The renovations have retained the character of the era whilst ensuring that today's discriminating guests luxuriate in modern comforts, with total privacy and personal service.

Each of our eight decorated garden suites include a full en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower, luxurious bathrobes, pure cotton sheets, goose down duvets, and king-size or twin beds. Full air-conditioned suites all feature separate sitting rooms, with open wood fireplaces and secluded verandas with views of the forest or valley and avocado orchards. The Executive Orchard suites also boast private saunas and swimming pools in their own secluded gardens - absolute luxury and privacy. Nominated for the World Luxury Hotel Award 2014 we committed to making each guests visit a memorable one.

Mornings begin with breakfasts in the Victorian gazebo, whilst evening highlights are the sumptuous gourmet dishes, fine wines and impeccable service of the candlelit restaurant. We have been awarded the coveted Chaïne des Rotisseurs blazon. To maintain an atmosphere of fine dining, dress code for dinner is smart - please no jeans, shorts or athletic shoes. Forest Creek Lodge & Spa

Sleeps 20 in 8 rooms

Forest Creek nestles in a gorge of the Steenkampsburg Mountains, set in a private nature reserve of the Mpumalanga escarpment.
Forest Creek nestles in a gorge of the Steenkampsburg Mountains, set in a private nature reserve of the Mpumalanga escarpment.

The gorge is softened only by a blanket of shrubs and trees which have grown in this malaria-free zone over millennia. It is only when one gets to the gate of Forest Creek Lodge that the rock-strewn grassland is left behind, one climbs up, and up, and enter this little enchanted world. For the international traveller, Forest Creek Lodge is an ideal place to relax and unwind after a long flight, a mere 130 km to the Kruger National Park, enjoy the treatments in the private Forest Spa, or just enjoy the tranquility of the bush. A private airstrip is located 8 km from the farm, from which we provide transfers to the lodge.

At Forest Creek, guests will dine on a four-course d'hôte dinner served in our candle-lit dining room, as well as a choice of five-breakfast menus. We also have a small menu for lunch and weather permitting, we will cook on the braai. For those who wish to hike, lunch packs are available, and for those who have special diets, we request that you inform us prior to your arrival.

The water at Forest Creek comes from a spring, and we will be bottling our own Forest Creek spring water. Forest Creek boasts a huge fireplace and again weather permitting, guests can enjoy meals and drinks outside on the veranda overlooking the valley. We are situated half way down the Steenkampberg mountain range, at an altitude ideally suited to the rapid growth of Rainbow and Brown trout.

Our cold, clear perennial stream feeds the trophy dam in which these lovely fish abide in a truly beautiful setting. The dam is approximately a half hour walk from the lodge or can be reached by 4x4 vehicles, leaving a 10-minute walk.

We practice catch and release of fish hooked, and rods are available for hire. One of our unique activities at Forest Creek is the hiking trails in the “Cloud Forest”. The trails are designed for the entire family, and are most suitable for the even not-so-fit person.

Under this canopy of trees and at the edge of the mountain, one feels very small in comparison to the magical views. The walk to the waterfall is approximately 2 km, winding through the forest and criss-crossing the stream in several places under the canopy of large indigenous trees. One is likely to hear the baboons barking and spot the odd bush buck or Red duiker and see the Cinnamon doves, Narina trogon's and loeries that frequent the forest. In the wetter months, the ferns, orchids and wild mushrooms offer spectacular opportunities for the more photographic inclined. A tree platform, built in a large fig tree above the forest canopy, is an ideal stop for birders or to simply relax and enjoy a picnic.

Scattered in the forest are remnants of old stone structures, some of which are supposedly several thousand years old and are under study at present. The forest is beautiful, friendly and safe. On this magnificent piece of land we hope we have catered for everyone, from luxury guest suites at the Main Lodge to the Forest Cottage and Bee Eater self-catering options. Forest Creek Lodge is also a haven for honeymooners, celebrating your first, fifth or fiftieth, you will be inspired by the romance of this incredibly exclusive, private place. Activities offered are bush baths, a forest spa, gazebo romantic private dinner, hiker’s picnic, lazy picnic, jet skiing, elephant rides, hiking, trout fishing, bird-watching, horse riding, mountain biking, clay pigeon shooting, and game drives., Forest Creek Lodge Dullstroom.

If you take the self-catering option you are welcome to book meals and activities at the lodge, we supply firewood.
Dinner is a 4 course meal R250.00 and breakfast is R120.00 per person.

Activities include; Bush bath - set in a secluded spot, enjoy a 'bath' in the bush, with lots of bubbles.
Forest spa - indulge yourself in our private spa overlooking the gorge, go home feeling relaxed and stress free.

Gazebo romantic private dinner - spoil your loved one for a totally private candle lit dinner under the gazebo. Many a proposal of marriage has been accepted in this lovely setting!

Hiker’s picnic; a picnic packed in a rucksack, get ready to hike to the waterfall!

Lazy picnic; a picnic set out for you in a private spot, with champagne, a good one for the romantic at heart.
Hiking; marked trails through the forest, along the stream on the way to the waterfall.

Bird watching; we have a prolific variety of uncommon species of birds that can be seen, including a resident pair of black eagles.
Horse riding; 4 km down the hill, book a ride in our scenic valley.

Trout fishing; good clear water with rainbow trout.
Clay pigeon shooting; an interesting and testing range for the novice and experienced shooters.

Buhala is an enchanting Game Lodge right on the banks of the Crocodile River, the border of the Kruger National Park. What a wonderful waterhole to have at the bottom of the garden! Elephant, buffalo, hippos and many antelope are just a few of the frequent visitors there.
Guests sitting on the verandah sipping sundowners or lazing around the pool have wonderful sightings of these fascinating animals.

Fine food and wines are served on the deck under candlelight and the whole atmosphere is one of casual elegance and great comfort and tranquility. Golf at Leopard Creek is one of the privileges of guests at Buhala Game Lodge and the day safaris into the Kruger nearly always see at least four of the Big Five.

Welcome to Summerfields Rose Retreat and Spa situated on one of the oldest farms in the Hazyview/Sabie Valley. Established by Andre van Heerden and Ilse Fritz on the old hunting farm of former Prime Minister, Jan Smuts, the lodge has now been transformed into a self-contained guest house known as the Stonehouse, with expanding views over the valley.

We offer a luxury 5 Star tented lodge, unique rose spa and gourmet restaurants nestled in a natural forest and plantations of lychees, macadamia nuts and roses. Rooms are defined by the bygone romance of percale linen and roses in luxurious suites on the banks of the Sabie River.

The rose tunnels were established in 2003 for the cultivation of a unique variety of roses, and the following year the original mango orchards were replaced by macadamia trees, which are now in production. Our gourmet restaurant, Summerfields Kitchen, was officially opened on 15 December 2006 and the River Lodge and Spa followed in April 2007.

We wish you a memorable stay with us and hope to be welcoming you back in the near future. If at any point during your visit you have any queries or special requirements, please feel free to let us know.
