Rhino Post Camp is a 16-bed lodge, set on the banks of the Mutlumuvi Riverbed, in a 12,000 ha private wilderness concession in the Kruger National Park. This unique wilderness area offers ecotourists the ideal place for encounters with the Big Five and allows visitors to track elephant and rhino on foot or view them from the comfort of open safari vehicles. The nature of a wilderness area is that there are no permanent structures, so Rhino Post Camp was built using natural materials of stone, wood, thatch and canvas to create an authentic bush ambience. Each luxury suite is exquisitely decorated and includes bedroom and lounge with impressive views of the riverbed from the bathroom, outdoor shower and decked patio. Following a walking safari or game drive, guests can relax in the revitalising swimming pool, take in the views from the shaded patio and watch the abundant wildlife amble down to the waterhole. Sumptuous meals are served in the camp’s dining area, which is set under magnificent Tamboti trees. The lounge, with its extensive wine cellar, cosy fireplace and bar, is the perfect spot for a sundowner. For something special, spoil yourself with a little pampering in the rejuvenation centre. In the spirit of wilderness areas worldwide, Rhino Post Camp has been specially designed and built to have minimal impact on the environment. Few permanent structures were used in the construction of this magnificent camp. Low energy lighting, solar assisted power production, natural materials, raised walkways and bedrooms are but some of the low impact measures we have taken.

Named after Colonel Stephenson Hamilton, who was instrumental in establishing the world-famous Kruger National Park, Hamilton's Tented Camp reflects a safari adventure of the early 20th Century, where grace and style were the epitome of luxurious living. Hamilton's is an authentic tented camp in true 'Out of Africa' tradition that offers six tents complete with hip baths, flowing mosquito nets and an open tented lounge and dining area, all perched on a magnificent deck. Raised walkways among ancient jackalberry trees, and star-filled skies add to this African camping experience. Please be advised that the gate entry fees are not included in the rates. Gate entry is now R45.00 per person per stay on entering the Kruger National Park.

Plains Camp has four luxury African explorer-style tents (all en-suite with hot running water) overlooking the spectacular Timbitene plain and waterhole. The camp is built in authentic pioneer tradition and is raised on wooden decks. Stylishly decorated, the 8-bed camp offers the tranquility of a 19th century naturalist’s retreat. An Africana book collection and antique treasures are reminiscent of a golden era. No concrete was used – all structures are canvas and wood. This camp was specifically designed for low energy consumption and makes use of solar power and limited generators for its power needs. Plains Camp is the ideal place for your Rhino Walking Safari. The camp is in the middle of a 12,000 ha private wilderness concession, where it seems the rest of the world no longer exists, and guests are ensured of superb game sightings. Plains Camp is close to Skukuza and is easily accessible by road or air. PLEASE NOTE: There are set days for arriving at Plains Camp, and a minimum of a two-night stay. Arrival dates only include Tuesdays, Fridays or Sundays. Timbavati now forms part of the greater Kruger National Park with a common unfenced boundary. Our traversing area is approximately 8000 hectares (19000 acres) of the reserve, offering guests varied landscapes with an excellent possibility of coming face to face with the Big 5 (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino) and numerous other mammals and bird species in their natural habitat. Guests are accommodated in fully furnished, brick and thatch chalets all with en-suite facilities and power points. Lion Sands Kruger National Park

Sleeps 54 in 18 rooms

Lion Sands Kruger National Park is situated on the banks of the Sabie River, in the prime...
Lion Sands Kruger National Park is situated on the banks of the Sabie River, in the prime game-viewing area of the Kruger National Park. The Sabie River has the highest recorded density of leopards in Africa, as well as one of the highest predator densities. The Sabie River is also said to have the richest biodiversity of any South African river, with many endangered and rare species being found in the area. Lion Sands offers an exclusive 5,000-hectare concession within this area, where guests can view the wildlife on safaris or bush walks, while accompanied by SANParks accredited guides. Lion Sands vehicles also have access to the entire Kruger road network, thus allowing guests to view the areas of historical significance and aesthetic beauty that the southern Kruger has to offer. Tinga exudes the atmosphere of a classic safari lodge. The thatched cathedral-like entrance leads through to the Colonial comfort of the lounge, which opens onto the massive wooden deck overlooking the Sabie River. Built around an enormous Jackalberry tree which is reputed to be over 200 years old, the deck affords magnificent views of the Sabie River and regular sightings of the resident wildlife, including members of the Big 5. Facilities at Tinga include a library with an array of African literature, a wine cellar stocked with premier South African and international wines, a boma, bar, and wellness treatment room. There is also a large eternity swimming pool situated next to the wooden deck allowing unobstructed views of the Sabie River. Although similar to Tinga, Narina has a distinctly more African feel. Like the bird it was named after, the lodge is unobtrusive yet undeniably beautiful, blending perfectly with the riverine forest vegetation. The main deck is situated on stilts overlooking the Sabie River, and the suites are connected by an elevated wooden walkway. Game sightings are exceptional at Narina. In winter, elephant and buffalo are seen daily, with large herds making their way down to the river in a cloud of dust. Lion prides are frequently seen, lazing in the shade of large figs and leopards make an occasional appearance. White rhino are also sometimes seen grazing in the evenings below the main deck. Resident wildlife includes bushbuck, nyala, kudu, warthog, baboons, and vervet monkeys. Hippos and crocodiles are present in the river, and are often seen on the sandbanks. The large sycamore fig tree in front of the main deck attracts a myriad of birds, including broadbilled rollers, green pigeons, trumpeter hornbills and lilac-breasted rollers, and wood owls are often heard calling at night. As with Legends, facilities include a main deck overlooking the Sabie river, a library, wine cellar, boma, lounge, bar, and boutique.
