Namaqua Silver Sands is a mobile camp for hikers, situated along the west coast of Namaqualand. The hike is so unique that no other hike can compete with this desert trail's transformation during the flower season. The hike runs over a period of six days and the mobile camp is moved accordingly. The picture perfect trail takes place in the Namaqua National Park, offering more than 150 different bird species, among which we find the ludwig's bustard, steppe buzzard and the African black oystercatcher, which is in danger of extinction. Also to be seen on the trail are a variety of small game, whale-watching during mating and calving season, the second largest seal colony on the West Coast, and a kaleidoscope of succulent flower beauty in season. As for the name Namaqua Silver Sands, the trail also hosts the only living dune system in South Africa which adds to the trail's uniqueness. The trail is rated one of the top 10 Slack-packing trails of South Africa, and can certainly turn nothing into something spectacular Accommodation is provided in two-man canvas tents, each with a camping mattress, and there is also a communal tent with basic toilet and shower facilities.

Fiddlers Creek campsite is the base camp for Bushwhacked Outdoor Adventures. The campsite is located in Vioolsdrift, on the banks of the Orange River in Namaqualand. Nestled on the banks of the mighty Orange River, Fiddlers Creek campsite is an oasis ideally situated for travellers from both South Africa and Namibia, and is a base for Orange River rafting trips and 4x4 excursions into the Richtersveld. With 200 metres of waterfront on the river and 14 grassed campsites, Fiddlers Creek is in essence a bush camp equipped with modern facilities. Each site features an undercover kitchen, basins with running water, counter tops, lights and power points, and a built-in barbecue area. Some of the larger sites also have large tables and benches as a permanent fixture under the roofed area. We all appreciate privacy when we camp, so with that in mind, almost all the sites have been enclosed with a reed fence. Other facilities available at Fiddlers Creek are a small shop, pay-per-coin filtered water, a pool table, and volleyball court. River rafting excursions are available at Bushwhacked ranging from half day to five-day adventures. The two large grass banks on the riverfront provide the perfect perch to view the sun setting over the mountain ranges of the Richtersveld, while the catering and bar area, near the waterfront is where we prepare and serve all our booked meals. Enjoy a cold beer or whatever grabs your fancy at our bar. Lie back in your tent in the morning and listen to the call of the majestic African fish eagle as it flies past. Breakfasts, lunch and dinner are available if booked in advance, with a minimum group size in mind. Our speciality is our spit braai, where we will endeavour to find your meat of choice. Complemented with home-baked breads on the coals, scrumptious salads and desserts, no one goes hungry at Bushwhacked.

The Artist's Cottage is situated in the centre of the little town called Sutherland. The cottage is a typical Karoo-style building, but it has been renovated with modern flare without losing its authentic feel. Sutherland is situated in the Northern Cape, just a stone's throw from the Western Cape's border, and is known for its clear skies, stars and its cold temperatures in winters, which can drop to below zero and snows occasionally. The town is also steeped in South African history, endemic succulents and amazing architecture. Sutherland is home to SALT, the Southern African Large Telescope, which is the second largest optical telescope in the world. The town itself is quaint and quiet, but there is more to it than just visiting the observatory. The Artist's Cottage is ideal for that weekend away from the city, and spending some quality time with family. The house contains two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, and comfortably sleeps four. Downstairs has a bedroom with a double bed and en-suite bathroom. An open-plan dining area, kitchen and big fireplace, built in the old-fashioned way and is big enough to climb into and sit next to the fire, is available. Upstairs is a loft bedroom, which is accessible via stairs inside the house or outside of the house. The room has a modern open-plan bathroom with a loose standing Victorian bath, a separate toilet and enough space to sit and read.
