Each room has a wall heating panel, electric blankets, linen, towels and toiletries. They are furnished in traditional country style and there is Selected DStv in the bedrooms, a cosy fireplace and the Universe Room with many books and magazines about astronomy. The Tolhuis is an outside, fully sheltered braai area, a fully equipped kitchen area for guests’ use. Safe parking is available with five carports. Visit the famous South African Large Telescope or do a scenic route towards the Ouberg Pass on the escarpment and see how the road winds down some 1000 m below.

The guest house offers two self-catering cottages; the romantic Blommehuisie or the Kliphuisie. Percale linen and towels are provided for both units. The Blommehuisie is furnished with a double bed and has an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The cottage does not have electricity but gas is used for heating and cooking. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, cutlery and crockery, and guests can enjoy their meals at the dining table. All the rooms are equipped with TVs that has access to one DStv channel and percale linen is provided. The rooms are located in the manor and are furnished with comfortable double or twin beds. One room is en-suite with a bath and shower while the other two rooms share a bathroom. One room can also accommodate two extra single beds and is perfect for a family. The Swiss Cottage and The Stable are both self-catering units but a bed and breakfast option is offered. The Swiss Cottage consists of two en-suite bedrooms and has a cosy lounge and a fully fitted kitchen. The Stable consists of one bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The kitchen is fully fitted and guests can enjoy their morning coffee on the patio. There is a fireplace in the lounge to warm you on those chilly winter nights or fresh Karoo mornings and here guests can curl up and relax on one of the comfortable sofas with a glass of sherry. The lounge is also equipped with a TV. Breakfast is served in the dining room and picnic lunches as well as dinners are available on request. Guests can visit the Wild Flower Reserve which has three biomes, or the lovely waterfall situated within a short drive. Nieuwoudtville is also the ‘Bulb capital of the World’ and consequently has the largest, both in size and population numbers, of porcupines. For the birders there are a variety of species to look out for especially the Ludwig’s Bustards and Namaqua Grouse.

The cottage consists of one bedroom with a double bed and two single beds, a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and an open-plan living area with two single beds. There is another bathroom outside with a shower and a toilet. All bedding and towels are provided, including electric blankets for those cold winter nights. The sunny verandah overlooks the tranquil open spaces of the farm and leads onto a lovely garden with braai facilities. Breakfast and dinner can be arranged on request. The farm has no mobile reception and the cottage has no TV, making this the ultimate escape from the busy city life. The house consists of two bedrooms and an extra flat let room, with its own bathroom and kitchen. In total, there are two double rooms with en-suite bathrooms and a twin room with an additional separate bathroom. The house also has two single beds in the living room in order to sleep an additional two people. Bedding, linen and towels, are provided. The house is fully equipped for self-catering, with a built-in braai in the kitchen, and an outside portable braai. There is a stove with an oven, a microwave and a small refrigerator. Andromeda has a television with the basic channels and a sun-room to enjoy the late afternoon sun. Andromeda is named after a constellation in the northern sky.
