    A pleasant surprise
De Rust is a pleasant surprise as I was not sure what to expect!I would recommend staying in De Rust as it is a quiet, picturesque and charming town! It is situated very close to Meiringspoort Pass which has spectacular scenery which I highly recommend.Give De Rust a try when you are in the area!

    De Rust town
Often people from out of town complain about the goings on in small towns like De Rust. However, our experience was that one needs to get out of your car and walk the town to get the real vibe of the town. The souvenir shops and coffee shops/restaurants we visited showed a lot of resident talent from artists and shop owners. It is all there to be explored. Our impression of the local OK Mini market was that it is well stocked and well managed.Yes, the town management may need attention but as far as I know it is managed by the Oudtshoorn Municipality. So, if the townsfolk stand together and...

What mountain passes! De Rust is the gateway to some astonishing South African mountain scenery. Make it your base for a couple of days if you can.

De Rust was designated Town of the Year by the Sunday Newspaper Rapport and by the DSTV- program Kwêla (Kyknet) and quite righteously so, as our village, with it’s timeless elegance will prove to be just the suitable getaway for you and your family. Picturesque De Rust is situated at the southern entrance of Meiringspoort and nestles snugly against the foot hills of the majestic Swartberg Mountain Range. It will offer you a welcome relief and refresh your senses after the long and tiresome journey through the arid Central Karoo. Your journey stops here – where you may enjoy our tasty lamb...

    De Rust
De Rust was named the "Dorpie" of the year for 2011 in a competition run by Kyknet and Rapport and is the jewel of The Klein Karoo situated 39 km from Oudtshoorn. De Rust is the gateway to the world famous Meiringspoort and is renowned for its Port Route, Donkey Cart Project and it quaint restaurants and gift/curio shops. De Rust hosts the famous Meiringspoort Half marathon. You will leave our beautiful "dorp" with fond memories as you will be welcomed by the "dorps" rich hospitality and its down to earth town folk. Stumble in on friday evenings to Kaalgat Kudu for a pizza, take a donkey ride...
