5 Ryneveld in Stellenbosch

5 Ryneveld

Stellenbosch Fusion restaurant in Stellenbosch
Once upon a time, long long ago, there was a beautiful Victorian house in a small, romantic little town. It was situated at number 5 Ryneveld Street - a place we now call home. When conceptualizing our new restaurant, we became aware of the special qualities of the number five. Five is the number of harmony and balance. Five is the number of perfection. Five is the number of senses in the human body - touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight. Five is the number of basic tastes - sweet, sour, salt, bitter and umami. Our restaurant comprises five rooms namely the dining room, study, library, bedroom and radio lounge. We welcome you to 5 Ryneveld, where we will provide you with an exciting dining experience, stimulating your five senses by exploring the five basic tastes. 5 Ryneveld is a cute and quirky meeting place for those embracing a playful and sophisticated atmosphere. It will be shaped by the friends, family and other warm-hearted people who meet, eat and play there. Welcome home...welcome to 5 Ryneveld.

Beads Restaurant

Combine contemporary and vibey, add great splashes of colour and a crowd pleasing menu and you have the recipe to what makes Beads restaurant tick. Beads is conveniently situated in the centre of town, making it an easy, if not irresistible, stop for after work drinks and eats. The sultry Stellenbosch summer calls for the French doors to be flung open and tables to be set outside, while winters become rather cosy with fireplaces in every room. The wines comprise a local selection of which Dalla Cia features prominently. Casparus in Stellenbosch

Casparus

Stellenbosch Fusion restaurant in Stellenbosch
This restaurant with a twist is Etienne Bonthuys through and through. This master chef challenges taste buds and pushes the boundaries of the imagination and the result is always interesting and delectable. Counter-intuitive combinations work surprisingly well; quail is served with raw salmon and strawberries, baby calamari is paired with oxtail, and lamb and lobster with mint sauce produce flavours that burst - that's it, just burst. For the less adventurous the menu does offer options, but if you're going to eat here, try the slightly wacky stuff. An extensive wine list that won't break the bank is on offer, and you are bound to find something for every palate. The interior is truly something to behold and matches the magical dining wonderland that Casparus creates. The restaurant is open from Tuesday until Saturday for lunch and dinner and booking is advised.

Haute Cabriere in Franschhoek

Haute Cabriere

Franschhoek Fusion restaurant in Franschhoek
Experience the Marriage of Food and Wine at Haute Cabrière Restaurant Haute Cabrière Restaurant has recently undergone a glamorous makeover, including an interior redesign and menu update inspired by recently appointed Chef Ryan Shell, which continues the tradition of creating the "perfect marriage of food and wine". Dressed in crisp, white linens and featuring a series of sparkling handcrafted chandeliers and colourful artworks, many of them by cellar master and Haute Cabrière founder Achim von Arnim, the restaurant is a stylish version of its former self. With its extensive terrace looking out to the valley, the unique setting offers some of the best views of Franschhoek. Inside, the soaring arches and the view over the Pinot Noir Barrel Maturation Cellar uniquely define this magnificent space, creating a unique setting for memorable meals, functions and romantic weddings. Despite the changes that have been implemented, of course much has remained at this iconic winery and eatery: The ever changing menu revolves around Haute Cabrière's wines and the range of Pierre Jourdan Cap Classiques, and a wine recommendation accompanies every dish. In order to allow guests to experience the full food and wine experience, Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant aims to offer guests a choice of either a full or half portion on their meal, encouraging sampling and tasting a variety of combinations. Le Bon Vivant in Franschhoek

Le Bon Vivant

Franschhoek Fusion restaurant in Franschhoek
Look through the glass wall into the kitchen and be amazed by the spectacle of owner and Chef Pierre creating stunningly beautiful 'artwork' on your plate. These creations also happen to taste great and Le Bon Vivant is known for sophisticated diners and a memorable experience.Le Bon Vivant is set an intimate converted house which is smaller than most of the purpose-built restaurants in Franschhoek. The ambience is fairly quiet, making it ideal for a more romantic evening. Despite the sophisticated surrounds, Pierre has added some unique and whimsical touches such as the lamp shades made from kitchen collanders. In addition to the full a-la-carte menu, Pierre also offers a five-course 'surprise' menu which takes the form of smaller 'tasting' courses, both complemented with a well chosen wine list. Tables are available in the shaded garden next to the restaurant for lunches or dinner on warm summer evenings.Need to know? Open 6 days a week for lunch and dinner. Closed on Wednesdays.

Reuben's

Franschhoek Fusion restaurant in Franschhoek
Local lad, Reuben Riffel, is much fêted. The food is wonderful - Brasserie style. It is necessary to book even in winter but it is easier to get a luncheon booking. Sit in the shady courtyard under the white stinkwood trees. There's an interesting pub section where the bar-counter is the wing of a Dakota airplane. During the day one can eat in a different sectioon of the courtyard where light food from their deli is served. Open seven days a week.

Umami in Stellenbosch

Umami

Stellenbosch Fusion restaurant in Stellenbosch
Umami is Japanese for ‘deliciousness’ a word coined to describe a taste that is beyond sensory. Located in the heart of Stellenbosch on Dorp Street, this trendy eatery is set on unleashing the ‘deliciousness’ of its global fusion menu (with a South African twist). Add to that the restaurant’s philosophy of ‘if we can make it ourselves we will’ visitors can expect nothing short of a culinary journey in a single meal sitting. The restaurant reflects a stylish yet earthy simplicity with its wooden furniture, rough bricks walls and fireplace. The outside seating is shaded and has a lovely relaxing view despite the surrounding hustle of town life. The lunch menu is fresh and light with homemade pizza, sandwiches and salads to choose from. The dinner menu, with its four course tasting option, is plainly focused on presenting guests with a flavoursome eating experience. A la carte offerings will have patrons succumbing to the likes of the Baby Calamari starter with a lime Risotto, Bernaise Beef Fillet for mains and an ice cream trio of Roasted Pistachio, Segafredo Coffee and Vanilla Koeksister for pudding. Umami offers a philosophy to food in a trendy upmarket atmosphere.
