About Samara Private Game Reserve
Samara Private Game Reserve offers an unforgettable experience for discerning travelers. Set on 70,000 acres of heart-stoppingly beautiful restored wilderness, the award-winning malaria-free reserve encompasses 4 vegetation biomes, including the unique 'Samara Mara', and a diversity of wildlife. Two intimate lodges sleeping a maximum of 26 people lie nestled beneath an amphitheatre of mountains, offering guests the feeling of having this timeless landscape all to themselves.
Karoo Lodge is a lovingly-restored 1800s farmhouse catering for individual travellers, couples and families, sleeping up to 18 people. The Manor House is an elegant villa with 4 double bedrooms, which can also be booked exclusively. This option is ideal for families and groups seeking privacy, indulgence and complete relaxation.
Samara combines magnificent landscapes and wildlife viewing with understated luxury and a greater conservation purpose, delivering a safari for the soul. Recommended minimum stay 3 nights.
Safari: Samara is the largest private game reserve in the Eastern Cape. Two game activities per day allow you to explore 70,000 acres on foot or in a vehicle. Samara is renowned for tracking wild cheetah, aardvark, rhino and elephant on foot.
Spa: In-room massages are available.
Golf: There is a 9-hole golf course in nearby Graaff-Reinet.
Wedding Venues: Samara is a stunning wedding venue, catering for small intimate ceremonies up to 30 guests. Alternatively we can organise larger celebrations working with outside catering, flower and wedding planning companies.
Family friendly: Children of all ages welcome at Karoo Lodge. Under-8s are not permitted on game drives with other guests. Dedicated kids programme on offer. Children under 14 are not permitted at The Manor (except for sole-use).
Romantic: The Great Karoo provides the ideal romantic background for a honeymoon or proposal and we provide a bottle of sparkling wine, a private dinner on the patio of your suite and a complimentary massage as a little treat.
