About Roodepoort Farm Self Catering

Under angry cumulus clouds and ancient sandstone cliffs, we rear fine Angus Cattle, grow beans, soya and maize on Roodepoort Farm. It is here where we have built, restored & renovated two warm and glad cottages flanking the stately centarian farmhouse. Every Friday night there's a steady cloud of dust that leads to Roodepoort Farm from the metropolis. Coolers in the back, and exited kids on the backseat and eager folks wanting to kindle friendships and relationships. You can have a lot of fun in a Jozi minute, but there's some things you can't do inside those city limits.
And that is what we bring to you.
You can come as you are as there ain't no dress code, just some rural rules that you need to know:
Don't mess with the bull as he can get real mean.
Don't forget to shut the gate.
Stay out of the beans.
Don’t step in it.
Respect all things great and small.
Do not play with fire.
Treasure the memories

Roodepoort Farm consists of three rustic yet comfortable self-catering units situated on 1400 acres of natural land in the picturesque Clarens district. It is the ideal getaway from the fast pace of the city and is great for relaxing and enjoying Eastern Free State nature right on your doorstep.

The units cater for different accommodation needs, with Mila’s Place having three bedrooms, Lexi’s Quirky Cottage having one bedroom and Lara’s Homestead having five bedrooms. Each unit is well-equipped and has BBQ facilities. The Farm also offers guests secure parking.

Roodepoort Farm compromises of bird-watching, cycling routes, picnicking or simply relaxing outdoors with a good book while soaking up nature.

What a surprise was our first time visit to Roodepoort guest farm, to be in such a beautiful environment, the grazing cattle and sheep was an experience! We will definitely return to the Tintin trailer

We stayed in Lexi's Quirky Cottage for a weekend and would recommend it to any couple. The views are stunning and the cottage is well equipped an very private. The dirt road can be challenging when it rains, but overall everything was great. We will definitely be going back.

Loved the location, beautiful scenery. Kitchen equipped for everything you can think of. Very nice place. The road is very gravelly - you have to keep in mind this is located on a farm and this is out of the owner's control. Will definitely visit again.

What a lovely weekend at Lexi's, you will not be disappointed. The unit was so quaint, but with more than enough facilities. Cutlery and crockery to feed an army, complimentary rusks, milk and bottled water. Seriously comfortable bed. Absolutely stunning views (especially from the bath!!). And the peacefulness. We saw one other person during the weekend, and that was Austin waiting for us upon arrival. Oh, and the cows that grazed behind the unit. Other than that, nothing. It was sublime. We will definitely be back! I'm not sure how chilly it gets in winter, but there is a gas heater for the...
