Buffelsdrift Game Lodge offers a unique bushveld experience in the heart of the Klein Karoo - the gateway to South Africa’s scenic Garden Route. The authentic bushveld character of the area at the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains has been preserved and the lush indigenous vegetation is representative of the Cape Floral Kingdom – South Africa’s sixth Natural World Heritage Site.Luxury accommodation, a restaurant and conference facilities that meet international standards are available to visitors and corporate guests. A charming wedding chapel at the water’s edge is the ideal setting for romantic African country weddings. A wide variety of game, bird and plant species are indigenous to this area and visitors will see elephant, rhino, buffalo, hippo, Cape mountain zebra, giraffe and other antelope.Buffelsdrift Game Lodge has been well-known for it's game drive and elephant interaction experiences for many years. Take a bush safari in an open game vehicle to a panoramic lookout point where refreshments will be enjoyed while taking in the natural beauty of the environment. The Meerkat Safaris will bring you up close to these amazing animals. While waiting for the Meerkats to emerge at the break of dawn, the ranger will educate the guests on all the interesting facts and behavior throughout the experience. Walk with an elephant in the late afternoon to the waterhole and see the sun set on the horizon. Elephant feeding offers an opportunity to interact with our elephants and to get to know these gentle giants. We also give our guests the opportunity to brush our elephant's backs before or after walking and feeding them. Our lion feeding experience offers guests the opportunity to be transported in a game vehicle to the 5ha lion enclosure where they will see our lions close-up from an elevated view point whilst a trained game ranger will feed the lions. They will also get fully informed regarding important aspects of lions in general. The 29 Luxury Tents on the edge of the natural waterhole offer beautiful views of the spacious Klein Karoo landscape. Each has its own wooden deck overlooking the water where guests can relax, admire the view and see the game. Guests and baggage will be transported from the safe parking lot in cute golf carts to their accommodation. The environment is one of quiet solitude that offers peace of mind.The Buffelsdrift Restaurant offers an à la carte or buffet menu that specializes in local Karoo cuisine, home-made preserves, chutney, pickles fresh produce and herbs from the area, as well as a variety of freshly baked oven bread. The selected wine list is a true representation of excellent South African wine and offers guests some of the best award-winning wines on the R62 - the longest wine route in South Africa. The open-air bar is situated next to the conference venue and is an extension of the wooden deck. The bar offers a variety of soft drinks, spirits and a wide selection of local wine and port.The neighbouring town of Calitzdorp houses three of the top wine estates on the R62, also known as “The Port Capital of the World”. Safari: Experience an array of wildlife including Elephants, Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Giraffe, Hippo and over 200 bird species. We also offer African Bush Safaris, Meerkat Safaris, Elephant Feeding, Walking & Brushing Experiences.
Spa: The Spa @ Buffelsdrift offers onsite therapists that are professionally trained to provide the feeling one gets of a relaxing and revitalizing treatment. Enjoy the view over the lake, sounds of wildlife and relaxing soft music in the background.
Wedding Venues: 100 guests can be accommodated. Wedding chapel over the dam, elephant weddings, on-site restaurant and reception area, dance floor and additional marquee tent over deck.
Conference Venues: 120 delegates in a school hall and is fully equipped with free Wi-Fi, data projector and screen, whiteboards, flipcharts, air-con, and mineral water. It is perfect for team building, product launches and corporate functions.
