The oldest guest farm in Namibia, with its spectacular view, lies just 50 km north of Windhoek, on the way to Etosha, Damaraland, Skeleton Coast and the Namib desert. Duesterbrook is a member of the Namibian Hotel Association and registered with the Namibia Tourism Board. We cater only for the individual traveller. The old colonial buildings (1909) have been carefully renovated and extended to keep the flair of the by-gone times. Complimented by inviting rooms, a tasty cuisine and the personal service is brought to you by a team of individual players. Adventure excellent cheetah and leopard drives and see about 15 different species of game and rich birdlife on the safari game drive. A early morning special mountain drive with different view points and the possibility to see the rare and endemic Hartmann mountain zebra is offered free if you stay two or more nights. Feel space, clean air and tranquility or enjoy four well marked walking trails or horseback riding. Enjoy a swim or the atmosphere around our big pool. We run and manage the farm in an environmental friendly way and participate in the Namibian eco award. In 2005 and in 2007 we got three and in 2008 we been awarded with four out five flowers. Except for one or two wilderness Lodges we are the only safari guest farm in Namibia with such a high rating. If your senses like the mix of historical flair, eco management, pure nature and space, conservation of rare and endangered species, adventure, personal service, individual people and a family atmosphere, than you should be our guest. Number of rooms: six double units and one single. All rooms are individually furnished, partly antique, partly specially made furniture. Limited camping, but what you take in you take out not to create a baboon problem.

Set in the rolling hills of the Khomas Hochland, less than 20km from Windhoek, is The Daan Viljoen Game Park. The 4000 ha Game Reserve is home to a wide variety of indigenous mammals, reptiles and 200-plus bird species. Nestled in the heart of the park is the alluring Sun Karros Daan Viljoen. Modern-day chalets are dotted around the bank of The Augeigas Dam. These contemporary units all comprise of a main bedrooms and a bathrooms with a showers. The private patios comprise outdoor umbrellas, furniture and braai facilities. In unit facilities included air-conditioning, roof fans, small safes, hairdryers, 220v charging facilities, satellite TVs, Wi-Fi access, writer’s tables, tea and coffee stations with mini fridges, cutlery and crockery and basic kitchen amenities. The grass-covered camping terrace that snakes around the bank of the dam, is popular with self-catering camping guests. Each camp island is equipped with an open-air braai area, a wash basin and preparation area, 220v electricity access and a camp light. The three ablution facilities are the same standard as the main lodge bathrooms, making this one of the most popular camping destinations. Cauvery, the crisp blue swimming pool, of almost 20 m in length, is a welcome cool-down after long sun-filled days. Sunbeds and umbrellas are dotted around the pool area where guests can relax and soak up the sun. The ablution facilities include outdoor pool showers. The reception is tech-current and wired to offer overnight guests free internet access. The kiosk is stocked with essentials and curios for your convenience. Day visitors and guests to the park enjoy self-guided one-way game drives of 6.5 km, high-clearance vehicles are needed. There is also a choice of two hiking trails. The 3 km ‘Wag ‘n Bietjie’ Trail leading down to The Stengel Dam and The 9 km Rooibos Trail taking avid hikers along The Augeigas Dam and to the eastern highlands. Reception will provide information with regards to additional activities and costs. The Kudu, Gemsbok and Es Conference units are fully equipped with all the modern high-tech equipment. They boast the wonderful views. The Kraal Restaurant and option of two free-style tents and a number of alfresco venues are ideal for private functions and or corporate events. Monteiro Camping and Self-catering offers visitors the best of both worlds. It is situated approximately 11 km south of Windhoek on the B1 tar road and less than 15 minutes’ drive from the traffic circle to Rehoboth. Monteiro lies in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature with wonderful views to the nearby Auas Mountains. Opened in 2005, Monteiro offers guests a choice of accommodation; chalets, campsites and safari tents. The guest chalets are equipped with twin beds and two bunk beds with a double bed in one of the chalets. These chalets have full, spacious en-suite amenities with a bath and shower in one room and a shower only in the other room. There are also a fridge, microwave, two-plate stove, TV and all the equipment needed to enjoy a self-catering stay. Private braai facilities are also provided. All the campsites enjoy lovely, well-maintained, grassy locations and each site has electric lights, running water, power points and braai facilities, for which wood can be purchased. There are also a communal kitchen and hygienic ablution facilities. The safari tents are equipped with the basic crockery, cutlery and electric kettle, but no cooking utilities. We supply the bedding and every tent has its own braai facility. There is also a lovely swimming pool for everybody to enjoy, and a laundry service can be provided on request. Our small kiosk sells ice cold cool drinks, chips, sweets, ice-cream, meat and all other delicious bites. At Monteiro you can feel the closeness of nature, and if fortunate enough, you might spot a kudu, oryx or Hartmanns mountain zebra. Bird-watching here is spectacular and you can also visit the only railway tunnel in Namibia, as well as all the attractions of Windhoek which are just moments away.
