    Laingsburg is worth a trip
Laingsburg and it's neighbouring Matjiesfontein are well worth a trip at least once in your life as a South African and as a tourist interested in South African history. Both places are rich in history and the people in the towns are really knowledgeable and super friendly. We had a great time exploring both of these places - the Flood Museum (Vloed Museum) and art installations are really touching and we were so lucky to meet a lovely lady who was there and survived the 1981 flood. Matjiesfontein is like a town frozen in time, it is so amazing to get to see Victorian era building and items -...

Many things have stayed the same - good droëwors at the butchery, beautiful night skies, warm people and, of course, Bhana's shop, which is an experience in itself. The silence of this town and its warm, friendly atmosphere is something that is hard to find elsewhere nowadays. It's also a great place from which to explore surrounding areas, like the...

    Lainsburg and Wagendrift Lodge
Lainsburg is your typical Karoo dorp but please take some time and turn off to Ladysmith and see the lovely views of the mountans. We stayed 28km from Lainsburg and how beautiful - fire place on your door, comfortable chairs and beautiful lawn for children to play while we enjoyed the smells of Karoo bossies and farmstyle life. Laingsburg is definately a destination that should not just be another passing through on your route put stay over at any of the lovely guestfarms in the area and enjoy your good Karoo generousity.Ralie Burman on Laingsburg and Wagendrift
