Description

Natures Retreat and Backpackers is found in Durban’s historical Hillary, scenic river surroundings and beautiful bird life including various different birds of prey species.

Experience it when a hawk flies just half a meter away from the window. See the stars at night. Only 10 minutes away from Durban Central, Bluff and Amanzimtoti. Also 10 minutes from the ABSA stadium and the Moses Mabhida stadium.

Natures Backpackers offer a shuttle service to all our clients. We do airport collections and we will also pick you up from the bus or train station. Please ask for tariffs on the shuttle service.

Please note that we have a family TV room that is used by the family. Guests are welcome to join the family for a movie. None of the rooms have TV;s, but guests are welcome to join the family in the main house TV room for movies. This gives the guest the chance to meet other guests.

The backpackers do not have a kitchen to use. If a backpacker would like to prepare a meal for themselves they may use the family kitchen. Communal Bathrooms are cleaned once a day when all guests are gone for the day. Guests must clean their own rooms during their stay, this is for security reasons.

No smoking is permitted inside the house or inside any of the rooms.

Location: Business clients, school tours, sport participants. We cater for all.

Great Outdoors: We have a variety of Nature reserves and parks in the area.

Historical & Cultural: Situated in the historical Hillary with sink houses over 106 years old.

Business Traveller: We have wireless internet as well as a internet cafe, VIP telephone system. photocopier and fax.

Disabled Friendly: We do have some units that is disabled friendly.

Outstanding Views: If you want to experience it when a hawk have his prey just meters away or fly over your head this is for you. Watch the stars at night. Listen to the birds singing in the morning and afternoon.

Relaxation: Our friends come to visit every weekend just to come and relax and unwind.

One big family

Staying in the house made us one big family - it was like I was at my own house. The people staying here were very friendly and have humanity. I enjoyed playing with the friendly dogs. My three year old girl met friends and they enjoyed themselves. Thanks to the owner who is very friendly.

Not happy at all - we booked a "loft room" but when we got there, it was not available, given out to other people and they stuck us into a backpackers room, not very pleasant. I knew it would not be very luxurious, being a backpackers resort, but the way they describe it on the net is not what we found at all. I felt we should have been given the room we booked

One of the nicest hostels I've stayed at. Owner was very nice and accommodating and did our laundry free of charge. Couple of things to know are that the bathrooms don't have a shower head unless you have a single room and the mattresses are pretty uncomfortable. The owner charged R60 for breakfast per person, after my three weeks in South Africa I learned that's a lot of Rand for breakfast.
