Caledon Mountain Lodge is a cosy, tranquil retreat located just 10 km from Fouriesburg and near to Clarens. The little town of Fouriesburg is just 10 km from the Lesotho border and is surrounded by the glorious Maluti Mountains. The little sandstone church in town was built in 1893 and this historic building, together with the blockhouse and the President Steyn House, make a visit well worth the effort, while fust a few kilometres away is the charming village of Clarens and the Golden Gate National Park.

Caledon Mountain Lodge offers accommodation in five thatched cottages nestled in the mountains and offering beautiful scenic views. The main lodge has a bar and restaurant with panoramic views and offers continental meals with local flavours. The main lodge area also has a children’s play room to keep kids safely occupied.

The Boesmanskrans hiking trail is one of several incredibly beautiful trails in and around Fouriesburg. Meiringskloof is a beautiful little nature reserve quite close to Fouriesburg that is also well worth a visit. It not only offers some pretty little picnic spots, but is also the departure point for the Brandwater Hiking trail. Guests to the area can also enjoy horse riding or trips to a Basotho Cultural Village.

We had a great time. The staff were very accommodating and the food was great. However, there is a 4km stretch of road that is best suited for a 4 x 4 or SUV.

Highly recommended for anyone wanting an unpretentious and relaxing weekend away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a rustic cottage set in the hills with amazing views and peaceful surrounds. The hosts, Mike and Sharon, were so friendly and accommodating. The food and the service at the lodge was 5 star! Very close to Clarens, Golden Gate and other attractions, its a great place to relax or to plan an adventure. A wonderful getaway - we will definitely be back!

Beautiful surroundings with chalet nestled between the mountains - stunning view. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Restaurant very cosy. Didn't see all the fossils but we'll be back for another look. Highly recommended.
