Mai offers a choice of four comfortable, air-conditioned and spacious bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. Each room also has DSTV, a fridge-freezer and all you need for making tea and coffee. One room has a double and a single bed, two rooms have queen-size beds and single beds, and there is a family room with a double bed and bunk beds. Laundry service is available upon request.

Prince Albert offers art galleries, craft shops, star watching with an astronomer, a ghost walk, a local storyteller, the state-of-the-art Showroom Theatre, a fascinating village museum and a wide range of architectural styles including examples of a local gable. Prince Albert is 400 km from Cape Town and 200 km from the nearest airport in George. Nestling against the Swartberg Mountains, it grew from a farm called Kweekvallei which was established in 1762 on the banks of a river whose source is from the sparkling springs in the Swartberg Mountains. The life-giving water was used to good effect to create an oasis in the otherwise dry Great Karoo. It still runs through the streets in bubbling furrows, nurturing fragrant gardens and adding a gentle murmur to the tranquil streets.

Afdakkie is a self-catering free standing house in a quiet street in the heart of Prince Albert. It is one of the older houses in town, thought to have been a Nagmaalhuisie. The house still has some of the original architectural features in the form of old reed ceilings and oregan pine doors.

The house is now simply furnished with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is fully equipped for self-catering and offers basic supplies such as tea, coffee and fresh milk. The bedrooms have comfortable beds with feather duvets and cotton linen. Towels are provided.

There is an outside courtyard, with shade in summer provided by a large old grapevine. The front stoep has a wonderful view over the town and into the Karoo. The house is walking distance from restaurants and shops. The back yard has a herb garden and fruit trees.

The Artist's Cottage facilities comprise a small, fully equipped vintage kitchen, a lounge, dining room, adjoining bedroom with kingsize bed, air-conditioning, heating, mosquito net and storage space, SATV and DVD's. The en-suite bathroom has a long bathtub, walk in shower and hand basin. Percale linen, towels, dressing gowns and slippers provided.

Health breakfast provisions in cottage: muesli, farm yoghurt, fresh fruit, tea and filter coffee with rusks or a breakfast voucher from the famous Prince Albert Country Store. The cottage sleeps two adults maximum.

Two outdoor terraces, the sunny courtyard terrace leads onto a sheltered lounging area facing pool, main house and large garden. The cottage is serviced once weekly or more on request, laundry service at small extra fee on premises.

Shady parking on a quiet, safe street in front of the cottage. Lovely views of the Koppie, sunsets, easy walking distance to town centre and onto leisure trails in the magnificent Swartberg Pass which is a proclaimed World Heritage site. Regret no credit card facilities, no pets and we require a minimum of two nights' stay.

This private self-catering accommodation on the edge of Prince Albert, is home to friendly free-range chickens, geese, cats and dogs. Spend your time on the veranda with a glass of our 2008 Gold Medal Winner Port-au-Prince Port, watching the magnificient Karoo sunsets.

You can have a braai, with wood provided, or take a dip in the swimming pool. Guests have full use of our large swimming pool and grassed area.

The cottage has a private entrance, and features a bedroom with twin three-quarter beds, and an en suite with a shower, toilet and basin. The room is air-conditioned. In addition, the cottage has a fridge, and crockery for take-away meals. A continental breakfast of muesli, yoghurt, rusks, and tea and coffee is supplied. There is a spacious and well-furnished patio, where you can relax.

Dishes can be washed and laundry done, on request, for a nominal extra cost. Safe lock-up parking is available for vehicles.

The Olive Thrush cottage offers a peaceful and tranquil retreat, within a few minutes’ walk of the Karoo’s beautiful countryside and about a ten minutes’ walk from the picturesque town of Prince Albert.

Beautifully decorated and fully equipped for self-catering, the cottage accommodates up to four guests in one bedroom and one bathroom. The bedroom has one extra length king-size bed, and two extra length single beds. The bathroom has a large shower and soft-fluffy towels. The more adventurous have the option to shower outside, under the stars.

The living room is in an open-plan layout, and includes a dining area, kitchen and sitting area with fireplace. The cottage has air-conditioning, mosquito nets and mosquito screens on the windows. A laundry service is available for an additional fee.

After a hot summer’s day you can enjoy your sun-downers at our dam under the trees providing shade and watch the nest-building weavers and listen to the chatter of the birds.

The cottage has its own private, secluded and shady braai/barbeque area from where one could see the Karoo stars.

Enjoy the freedom of open space, no neighbours, absolute privacy, breathtaking views of the Swartberg mountains and bird life on the dam, yet be only 2 km away from the centre of town. Millers House is ideal for an overnight, weekend or longer stay. The cottage is a lovely setting for a family, two couples travelling together or even a honeymoon.

Miller's House lies on 180 hectares of private, unspoilt Karoo veld. You can wander up the koppie to admire the view, perhaps even taking a picnic with you, or simply stay on the verandah to indulge in birdwatching, painting, reading or lazing. A brief stroll takes you to the historical Alberts Water Mill.

Miller’s House is tastefully decorated in cool Karoo shades, and provides accommodation which is both spacious and extremely comfortable. The original clay walls and reed ceilings not only add to the ambience and character of the cottage but keep it cool in summer as well.

Both of the bedrooms open onto the patio and each feature a private lounge area with DStv and air-conditioning. Each room also has a king-size bed or twin beds and a fold-out sleeper couch for young children. Ceiling fans provide a breeze in summer, while heaters and electric blankets ensure snug nights in winter. The luxurious en-suite bathrooms contain corner baths, separate showers and heated towel rails. Hairdryers are supplied in each room. The kitchen is fully equipped and features a microwave, a stove, a fridge and a washing machine. A selection of coffees, teas, homemade rusks, milk and sugar are provided. There is also a Weber braai for guests' use.

For those who choose the bed and breakfast option, there are cereals, yoghurt and fruit juice. Should you prefer a heartier breakfast, there is a choice of five restaurants in town.

In the evening you can watch the changing hues of the sky and at full moon, an almost unbelievably huge, buttery, yellow globe slowly rises above the foothills of the Swartberg.
