Description
This unique South African franchise was inspired by South African wines, as well as the charm of the Cape and Boland. Our cellars reflect this influence in the variety of Cape and Boland wines that we stock.
The décor at the De Kelder Restaurant is thoroughly indigenous as everything was locally designed and manufactured. Top wine estates display their wines in stylish back-lit cabinets with various pictures of the wine estates in the background.
The restaurant boasts a stylish bar and a big screen for watching sport events.
The food is a celebration of the Cape’s cosmopolitan influences. An extensive a la carte menu caters for everyone’s needs, as well as the set menus for large groups and functions. The deep-fried camembert starter is crusted with sesame and poppy seeds, giving a new twist to this popular dish. All the meat lovers can sink their teeth into one of the Cape’s best Chateaubriand steaks.
De Kelder Restaurant and Winery has irresistible specials throughout the week.

I took my son to De Kelder Plattekloof for lunch. It would be my first dining experience there. I asked the waiter about the Eisbein, which he assured me was excellent.
It took what seemed like an age to arrive. Once it did, I was so dissapointed that I took the whole thing back home for my dog. It was dry almost to the bone.
I had to get up from the table to ask for the bill as the waiter was nowhere to be seen. The restaurant manager did offer some sort of explanation saying it was cooked too long.
There was a slight apology, but not one mention of doing something else for me. So I paid for something I had to throw away, and at R95, I was not happy. I won't reccomend this restaurant.
