Tailormade Safaris- Mana Pools offers mobile tented accommodation for a minimum of two to a maximum of 12 guests. Tailormade Safaris is a small owner-run company that prides itself on Tented Adventures that create tailor-made, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for our guests.

Mana Pools National Park is an area that has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO, as the number of visitors to the park is strictly controlled. In Mana Pools, the Zambezi River meanders through a wide valley, repeatedly splaying out into islands, channels and sandbanks, with escarpments rising dramatically on either side.

Accommodation in our tented camps consist of four 3.5 m Meru-style tents with en-suite showers and toilets. Our beds are wide and comfortable because most of our guests come for extended periods of time to the bush. For example, it is not unusual for our safaris to remain up to eight or 10 nights in Mana, at one or two locations.

Camp is lit at night by paraffin lanterns. Food is cooked in camp over a campfire and fresh bread baked. Meat, fruit and vegetables are supplied fresh from reliable suppliers and stored in a refrigerator and when required, the camp will be resupplied during the safari.

Mineral water is supplied for drinking and when ice is available, it is made from safe filtered water. To round up the experience, we also believe in good food and good wines when guests finally come back to camp after having followed an elephant bull for several hours on foot or a pack of wild dogs hunting.

The Mana Pools Canoe and Walking Trail is a great way for guests to enjoy the wildlife of the park. At guests own pace, they will canoe down the mighty Zambezi River, the fourth largest river in Africa, on a three-night canoe mobile safari. This is an adventure of a lifetime, an experience unlike any other. The paddling is easy and no canoe experience is necessary.

Guests paddle down the Zambezi River with a full back-up team who will set up the camps well ahead of them for the different night spots. In total, about eight hours of light paddling in a steady current and no rapids will be experienced.

The whole trip will be along Mana Pools shore line covering a distance of about 70 km, and guests will enjoy the viewing of wildlife in the style of a canoe, which is usually combined with walking and exploring the Mana Pools wilderness areas off the beaten track.

As a way to ensure continuity in interpretation of the wildlife experience and natural surroundings on guests’ journey, we offer the services of private professional guides on safari. Working together with the local guides, camp management and staff, a private guide will make sure that all guests’ needs are met and special interests pursued as far as possible.

Our latest development at Tailormade Safaris is the introduction of tours and transfers around Zimbabwe. We have introduced a small fleet of vehicles that can carry from two to 15 guests for access around all cities in the country and the remote bush locations. All our transfer vehicles have internal air-conditioning and a trailer for luggage, leaving our guests with a bit more spacious comfort.

Tafika Zambezi is derived from the local Shona dialect ‘Tasvika Zambezi’, meaning we have arrived on the Zambezi. You will have arrived at one of our most scenic and best appointed camps in the heart of the Lower Zambezi Valley. This area offers fishermen the opportunity to fish for Africa's premier freshwater game fish, the tigerfish while enjoying some of the continent's most impressive big five country. Fishing this section of the Lower Zambezi is an opportunity not to be missed as it is renowned for being one of the world's most rewarding destinations for tiger fishing.

Your private accommodation will offer you a view of the largest, most famous river in Southern Africa. Tafika Zambezi camps are fully catered facilities inclusive of accommodation, all meals, refreshments, boat hire, tackle and bait. You will share the pool, bar, and dining area with other guests and, while relaxing and reliving the day's adventures you will look out on to the magnificent Zambezi. Tafika Zambezi Fishing Safaris currently have two luxury fishing camps on the Lower Zambezi, Tafika and Shamashanga offering some of the most impressive sport fishing and game viewing in the Zambezi Valley. Each camp has a team of professional river guides who are there to assist you with finding the best fishing or game viewing spots, preparation of fishing equipment and also with refreshments and light meals.

Tafika accommodates up to 14 guests in seven luxury brick-under-thatch chalets. Each chalet boasts comfortable twin beds, overhead fans and a stylish en-suite bathroom with shower, providing all the necessary comforts for your stay. Each chalet is carefully positioned so that from your veranda you will have a breathtaking view of the Zambezi and can enjoy the sun setting over the Zambian hills.

A short walk from each chalet along well-let brick pathways is the main lodge incorporating the dining room, bar and lounge area. There is a large patio with an open fire pit providing the perfect place for evening sundowners before a sumptuous evening meal. Nearby there is also a small plunge pool providing welcome relief during the heat of the day.

The lodge itself and the chalets are thatched from local grasses and shaded by stately tamarind trees. Tafika Zambezi is truly an island of luxury in the wilderness of the Lower Zambezi, little changed since David Livingstone passed by.
