Elephants Eye, Hwange is a luxurious tented camp situated on a private concession, 13 km from entrance to the Hwange National Park. Hwange National Park is the largest park in Zimbabwe, covering an area of approximately 14 650 square kilometres. Named after a local chief, Hwange is situated in the northwest corner of the country approximately one hour south of the mighty Victoria Falls. Because of its close proximity to Victoria Falls, Hwange boasts an incredible biodiversity of flora and fauna, and a plethora of African wildlife. There are over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded in Hwange National Park. Specifically, the elephant population in Hwange is world famous, as it is one of the largest in the world.
The camp comprised eight tented chalets, all with double or twin beds surrounded by mosquito netting, and with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and basin, and an outside shower. The Elephants Eye, Hwange can host a maximum of 16 people at any given time and all meals and most drinks are included.
Travellers can enjoy the beautiful setting looking onto a waterhole which is frequented by elephants and other game. All chalets are waterhole facing and there is a guide on-site to walk clients to and from communal areas and chalets. The camp includes a communal boma area, a dining area, and a bar. A curio shop is also available.
Activities at Elephant’s Eye include game viewing, guided educational walks, bird watching, and night game drives, all with trained field guides; swimming or enjoying sundowners while relaxing near the pool. The Elephant’s Eye has a waterhole which offers unlimited opportunities to view game drinking and cavorting at close range.
