Thabametsi Farm is a tranquil rustic self-catering getaway in the heart of scenic Magaliesburg. Situated on a 132 Ha farm, Thabametsi is nestled between two koppies overlooking the valley to the Witwatersrand Mountains. This malaria-free location assures guests of beautiful sunsets and great hospitality. The diverse ecosystem encourages a wide range of bird life, particularly on the dam. Smaller animals like bush buck, scrub hares, mongoose and squirrels have made Thabametsi their home.
Activities include cycling, swimming, bird-watching, various ball games and nature walks. Canoeing and fishing in the dam or mountain biking are some of the attractions for the more active. Thabametsi Farm offers family orientated accommodation therefore children are welcome. Ducks, chickens and turkeys give the children a sense of real farm life. A jungle gym, pony rides and even a ride on a tractor are available for the children.
Indoor fireplaces and heaters cater for cosy winter nights whilst summer evenings are braai-time in the lovely bomas under the stars. Thabametsi is an ideal venue for families, photographers, artists, environmentalists and small tour groups. There is also under cover parking.
We provide soap, toilet paper, bedding, towels, not swimming, crockery and cutlery, cooking utensils, toaster and kettle, a fridge and stove for your use, as well as cots and a high chair. Please bring your own fishing rods. The accommodation available consists of two bungalows, of three double rooms each plus a living room/kitchen. The master bedroom is en-suite.
Lavender cottage caters for two adults and two children under 12 years. It has a verandah with a lovely view over the valley. Owl cottage caters for two and has a kitchen/living room. The spacious double room is en suite and the private boma area looks out onto bushveld. We offer either a continental or cooked breakfast for an extra R35 per head.

The labyrinth, which is situated away from all the accommodation, is a very natural one, with rocks and indigenous plants and has been carefully placed for solitude, with only the sounds of the birds and rustle of wind in the reeds to add to the surroundings. Other activities include: Barbel fishing, canoeing, pony and tractor rides, donkey cart rides, various ball games, jungle gym, obstacle course for kids, children's fantasy maze, hikes, bird watching, solar heated pool, games room, small conference room, massages (with prior arrangement), picnic baskets, craft shop, gym and feeding farm animals.
