About Birch Grove

Birch Grove is a charming log cabin in the heart of Hogsback. The comfortable accommodation set in the lush forests will have guests feeling like they have escaped the world.

The log cabin has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed as well as a single bed, and the second bedroom has a double bed. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with baths. The beds have electric blankets to keep the winter chill at bay.

The comfortable cabin has a lounge area where guests can relax. It is equipped with a fully fitted kitchen including tea and coffee facilities. There is a gas heater for winter. Guests can stay on either a self-catering rate or a bed and breakfast rate. The log cabin also has a braai area to complete the picture.

Hogsback lies on the western edge of the Amatola Mountains and is surrounded by indigenous Afromontane forests which give a mystical feel to the area. Guests are able to enjoy the scenery when walking, hiking or mountain biking. There are many opportunities to enjoy the calls of birds, or spend a relaxing afternoon fishing.

The house was spotless, and well equipped. We loved the fresh flowers that were provided.

The surroundings...the spacious cottage with all you need. I am definitely making it my place to renew and recharge batteries both in winter and I summer.

Some of the light fittings and their arrangements could be safer. Carpets need a very thorough vacuum. The temperature inside the cottage was perfect. Wonderful piping hot water, though a strange blue colour noticed in the bathwater. Good amount of towel rack space. Chipped crockery and loose cutlery handles not a good impression. Very comfortable double bed and pillows. Fun musical instrument in the bedroom! Interesting noise the fridge made - sounded like wind blowing.

We loved the charm of this simple log cabin, very well situated and within 2 km of the wedding venue we attended. The electric blankets was a bonus with the cold weather!

Very spacious cabin, good value for money, private, peaceful setting/location. Only complaints are that there was no gas for the heater and a shower (instead of a bath) in one if the bathrooms would've been nice. But overall, we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay.
