Stone Town
Town of Zanzibar Town

Women, wear a dress!
People are friendly, but there are some "looks" if you are wearing trousers. No doubt about it, this is a great place for intercultural history. I am appalled at the lack of care over that history, and the first place I thought was badly looked after and lacking in any imaginative/creative ideas was the main National Zanzibar museum. What a dump. There was no electricity so I couldn't read any of the plaques, and some displays were completely in the dark. It seems that it is mostly used for its toilets by the local market place. So disappointing, I wanted to cry. a great exhibition of an Mtepe...

Pingwe
Town of South East Coast Zanzibar

Little Paradise
Michamwi-Pingwe is one of the best holiday destinations in Zanzibar. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, you are exactly right. There are only a few exclusive accommodations. The people of the village are very friendly. The unique and incredible blues of the Indian Ocean enchant every visitor. A snow-white sand bank invites for a visit at low tide and at full moon, you can for a few days observe the spectacle of the rising moon. The Rock Restaurant, uniquely situated on a rock in the sea is worth a visit.Who wants to party in between can go on Wednesdays to Kaefunk in Michamwi-Kae,...

A taste of paradise
Of all the beaches we visited on Zanzibar this was tha absolute best.Beuatiful beach, friendly people and a nice village behind the hotels. Don's miss buying fresh food from the "Post office" run by a wonderful family. It is not far to the beach where the dolphin tours go off either, but make sure you go early in the morning before there are too many boats chasing them.

Magical Zanzibar
Straight off, Zanzibar as a whole is just stunning. Even though you can see the poverty in the outlying towns, people are happy. The beaches are just amazing, and the water... It is like walking into an azure bath - so warm and inviting, but still refreshing as you are in the ocean. When the tide goes out, you can walk so far into the sea, it is divine! The snorkelling and diving are incredible, the colours of the coral and the sea life - the best I have experienced (although my experience is limited!)The hotels are beautiful, especially ours - the Neptune Pwani (yes, I am biased!). It was defin...
