We didn't spend much time in Ladismith itself, more time was spent in Calitzdorp which offers good food and is home to Boplaas where one can buy a selection of wines and ports at reasonable prices. Friends spent more time in the town itself and recommended its eateries.

Most people don't know much about Ladismith. In fact they muddle it up with its younger counterpart in KwaZulu-Natal - Ladysmith with a "y". Ladismith is an unassuming town that has so much to offer beyond the town's borders. What we love is driving through and exploring the beautiful valleys on the outskirts of town that are nestled against the Klein Swartberg Mountains, for example, the Voorbaat, Dwarsrivier and Hoekoe valleys. Arrived in a lovely downpour of cooling rain.Had homemade pie and chips at the restuarant next to the Total garage which was fresh and very tasty.Found Lammies Butchery where we bought lamb chops and wors which were absolutely outstanding when we braaied later that evening.Had a quick drive around in the town and then set out for our stay at Klein Karroo Cottage.Cannot say anything more about Ladismith so cannot rate it.
