I’m not going to lie: I visited Barrydale for a one-month retreat a year and a half ago, and still haven’t left. I’m a city girl, born and bred, but something about this dorp has gotten under my skin and try as I might I just can’t seem to shake it. The deep silence of the Klein Karoo (also called Kannaland), the endless blue skies and whimsical clouds have filled something in me I didn’t know was empty.
