Scarborough

Description

The easygoing village of Scarborough lies on the northern side of Cape Point Nature Reserve in the Table Mountain National Park. Just 11 km from Kommetjie, it is one of few far-flung suburbs of Cape Town where you can escape from the city and crowds.

Scarborough proudly asserts itself as a ‘conservation village’ although it’s pretty much an assortment of large modern houses and rustic beach homes spilling down mountain slopes to the beach and rocky coastline.

This nature-lover’s and botanists haven is surrounded by a rich selection of coastal fynbos and offers some lovely walks along the coastal and mountain trails. The sunsets are awesome.

Surfing, body boarding, kite surfing, kayaking and windsurfing conditions are excellent. Some of the best spots on the Peninsula for fishing and diving for crayfish can be found along this shore.

There are no shops and the Camel Rock is the only restaurant within the village but it’s not far from Kommetjie, Inhoff’s Gift, Noordhoek, Simon’s Town and Fish Hoek. The pretty Cape Farmhouse Restaurant and a few lovely gift shops are just 3 km towards Cape Point.

Scarborough is a lovely, quiet little village. Ideal for surfing or long walks on the beach.

Loved the small size of the town. The beach is gorgeous. The only thing was the chance of it being windy was big, so you often don't get to the beach even though you would love to.

If you want to experience a break away from city life, Scarborough is the place to be. The drive along the coast to the suburb is spectacular. Reconnect your soul to Mother Nature's splendor. This is definitely the place to do just that!

Scarborough is a lovely little seaside hamlet with long sandy beaches. Good for experienced surfers, and for the more adventurous, horseback riding through the local vineyards is a treat.
Seaside getaway, 45min from Cape Town (CBD)

Relaxed, beautiful, quiet and remote; except you're only 45min from the centre of Cape Town. Great beach, rugged coastline and 15 min away from Cape Point Nature Reserve. What more can one say?
