Get away from it all

Lovely, cosy cottage with all amenities. Hosts were excellent and go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. Excellent value for money. Beautiful scenery. Will definitely be back.

Description

Lemonwood is an ideal base in which to explore the Natal Midlands. Being in the centre of the Midlands, there are all the craft attractions of the Midlands Meander on our doorstep, with some of the finer quality crafts-people happily close by.
There is fishing available locally and riding trails. The activities in the Midlands also include fine and easily accessible golf courses and the 'extreme sport' of the Karkloof Canopy Tour.
We are conveniently situated for the private schools in the area from Nottingham Road to Pietermaritzburg, especially for the events or open weekends at Michaelhouse, Hilton and St. Anne's.
There are several wedding and conference venues nearby as well as a plethora of restaurants

The battlefield area is also accessible for day trips or more extensive overnight stays. We can put you in touch with tour operators if wanted. Also day trips to the world famous Drakensberg are easily accomplished. If you are spending more than a couple of days on the area a picnic, walk or inspection of the cave art (or all three) is a must.
It has to be said though, that we find it hard to tear ourselves away from our beautiful little corner of South Africa in the Dargle.

Rooms and units

Cottages 3

Includes: Room\Unit Only

We have three peaceful cottages – Samango, Serval and Dassie. They sleep 4, 3 and 2 people respectively, although sofa beds and/or mattresses are available to extend this. All bedrooms are en-suite and there are open fires and under-floor heating for the colder months. There is DSTV and a video in each cottage. Braais are provided and there are books for you to read, borrow or swap. The kitchens are fully equipped and the cottages are serviced daily. A laundry service is available on request. With prior arrangement we can offer fax, email and internet broadband facilities from our farmhouse. All the cottages are very close to the bush and are secluded. The dawn chorus will wake you in the mornings and if you are an early riser you may catch a glimpse of the spectacular Knysna Louries or Paradise Flycatchers on their early morning rounds.
