Garonga Safari Camp

Garonga Safari Camp and Little Garonga are both unique, intimate and classic safari bush lodges situated in the 22 000 hectare Makalali Conservancy which is situated just west of the world renowned Kruger National Park. Owner run and managed, these two special lodges offer a very real and meaningful but slightly different safari experiences for the soul and will appeal to young and old alike.

This unassuming sanctuary promises an intimate wildlife encounter in an unhurried environment where you can unwind, sleep deeply and be yourself. The accommodation at Garonga Safari Camp reflects the surroundings of the bush's textured earthy colours and clean lines have been incorporated with fine linen to ensure pure comfort, a tempting place to relax and take in this untouched bushveld wilderness for hours.

Garonga Safari Camp with its six tented rooms is situated overlooking a dry riverbed and perennial spring fed waterhole - each with a wooden deck complete with hammock that commands spectacular views. The rooms are light, airy and spacious with large, mosquito net draped beds. In addition to the indoor shower, there is an outdoor shower, providing the perfect link between the luxury of the suite and the allure of mother nature.

Little Garonga has three fully en-suite, thatched and air-conditioned suites, all situated around centralized indoor/outdoor lounge areas, a swimming pool, surrounded by spacious decks and built in and down BBQ area. Each suite has its own platform deck complete with hammock. The Hambleden Suite (considered the main suite) has its own swimming pool, private indoor/outdoor lounge areas.

It comprises two air - conditioned bedrooms with the main bedroom having a spacious en suite bathroom with bath and both indoor and outdoor showers while the second bedroom is accessed through the inside lounge and is only for use for children as it is not en suite. The Chiltern Suite and Buckingham Suites are similar “sister” suites and come complete with air-conditioned bedrooms, open plan mini lounge area and ensuite bathrooms, containing baths and both indoor and ourdoor showers.

The food at Garonga Safari Camp and Little Garonga is a fusion of the resident chef's exceptional culinary skills and there is a varied selection of excellent South African wines - making every meal at Garonga an unforgettable experience.

Garonga's holistic philosophy is to offer a safari for the soul, an unhurried and intimate wildlife encounter, a time to reflect and find inspiration in nature.

Activities include game drives, wilderness walks, sleep-outs, outdoor bush-baths and aromatherapy and reflexology sessions. At Garonga, the idea is to allow guests to indulge in individually selected activities that will enhance their personal wildlife encounters.
