Bella's B and B is a beautifully furnished garden cottage situated in Vryheid. This unit is ideal for the business traveller, as it is located close to the centre of town.

The cottage consists of a large bedroom, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, a fully equipped kitchen with a honesty bar and a living area with DStv. The lounge area has a sleeper couch and an additional single bed can be provided on request. There is secure under-cover parking available. The cottage leads onto a lovely patio area, that can be used for smoking, and a swimming pool.

The town of Vryheid was very much involved in the subsequent Anglo-Boer War of 1899, making it one of the more interesting towns on the Battlefields route. This route traces the myriad battlefield sites and memorials dotted across the surrounding countryside.

Villa Beryl Guesthouse is one of Vryheid’s old surviving classic South African homes, with its sandstone foundations, Oregon-pine floors, high ceilings and wide verandas.

The guesthouse consists of seven en-suite double rooms and one two-bedroom family room. All the bedrooms are fitted with bar fridges, tea and coffee facilities, flat-screen TV’s with DStv and air-conditioning. There is secure under-cover parking on the property.

English and Continental breakfasts are served in the sunny dining area, and dinner is served on request. The guest house hosts conferences of up to 30 people, and welcomes anyone who would like to use our facilities for photo opportunities such as wedding or matric farewell photos.

Petra's Country Guesthouse is affordable self-catering accommodation, situated on a working jersey dairy and nguni beef cattle farm. The guest house is a historic Victorian sandstone homestead in the Skurweberg Valley, only 9 km from Vryheid.

We offer comfortable fully equipped units, hosting up to 25 guests. There are rooms available for singles, couples or groups. There are beautiful mountain views, clean air and fresh spring water. Continental breakfasts can be arranged on request.

Fundamentally a coal mining and beef farming town, Vryheid lies roughly 70 km northeast of Dundee in Zululand. Whilst Vryheid’s surrounds are largely dominated by timber farming and crops such as groundnuts and maize, the town also lies near the sources of four major rivers named the White and Black Umfolozi, Mkhuze and Pongolo.

Access to the wetlands in the area are thus good, and some of them are of regional importance, which is of added benefit to birdwatchers and provides a diversity of scenery for hikers to the area, coupled with the added value of several nature reserves.

The bedrooms are furnished with either two single beds, a double bed or a queen-size bed. Most of our staff have worked at the lodge in excess of ten years and are very proud of the lodge, so the service is first class.

Oxford Lodge is located close to many shops and supermarkets, the post office and the police station. It has a very tranquil atmosphere with lovely gardens that all add to the atmosphere at the lodge.

Oxford Lodge was established in 1990 and was renovated and upgraded in 2011 to a luxurious establishment which offers quality rooms, good food and conference and function facilities all at competitive prices.

Oxford Lodge offers bed and breakfast accommodation in 36 luxury rooms, all with air-conditioning and TVs with DStv. The rooms contain either double beds or twin three-quarter beds and tea and coffee-making facilities. Internet and email access is available for guests.

It is also very close to all the English Zulu war sites and there is also a game park adjacent to the town. There is a warm water resort 45 km from town at Natal Spa. Durban is 320 km away and Johannesburg 400 km.

There are three beautiful dams within 10 km from Vryheid for fishing and water sports. Blood river monument where the Boers and Zulus had a big battle is about 45 km away.
