Come enjoy an all in one experience in our luxurious little cottage, located on the shores of the Buffeljagsrivier.

Simply country living with a quirky interior and creative colour scheme, allows for what is already a private place to be as unique as it is comfortable.

Here guests can learn about the Sugar Bridge’s interesting history, help feed the chickens, ducks, geese, springbok and Choppie the little pig.

End your day with a sundowner on the peaceful banks of the river, while waiting for the train to come shuffling past.

Somerset Gift Getaway Farm lies in a beautiful valley bordering the foothills of the majestic Langeberg Mountains, just 16 kilometre from Swellendam. Combining an idyllic and peaceful setting, with stunning mountain views and green pastures dotted with Hereford cattle and horses, a spring water lake, and the Buffeljags River skirting the length of the farm, waterfalls and rock pools.

There is a choice of four gorgeous accommodation options to enjoy it all from: Fish Eagle Lodge (sleeps six in three spacious en-suite bedrooms), Loerie Cottage (two bedrooms)and Rose Cottage (two bedrooms both en-suite) both sleep four, and Olive Cottage (one bedroom), sleeps two. What's more, Swellendam and the coast is just up the road, with their own platter of restaurants and activities. "I think it is one of the most idyllic places I have yet discovered... it is a piece of paradise right in our back yard." (CEO Cape Town Tourism, Nov 2007)

Bo-Kapie self-catering cottage, built in 1833, is one of the oldest houses in Swellendam. It is also the last of the houses dating back to the slave history of Swellendam, which ended with their emancipation in 1834. Swellendam is situated on the N2 National Road, midway between Cape Town and George on the scenic Garden Route, and is the third oldest town in South Africa.

Bo-Kapie is a little flat-roofed Cape Georgian-style cottage with a moulded parapet, which was the preferred style of the Muslim artisans of the time. It is reminiscent of the typical Bo-Kaap houses in upper Cape Town, as they still exist today. The vertical panelled front door with fanlight has replaced the stable door of the Cape Dutch style and typically, this fanlight is also the only window of the "voorhuis" or front room.

A romantic little hideaway, Bo-Kapie cottage oozes charm and nostalgia. Furnishing is simple, with pieces aged by life. Accommodation is offered in two bedrooms; the main bedroom is en-suite with a Victorian bath and there is also a second bathroom. The outside flatlet features twin beds and a shower bathroom en-suite. Bo-Kapie sleeps up to eight guests and is fully equipped for self-catering and bedding is also provided. Features include an open hearth in the living room and kitchen area, with plenty of wood provided.

The cottage is centrally situated for museums, restaurants, shops, golf courses, hiking trails, and Marloth and Bontebok Nature Reserves. With so much to see and do in and around Swellendam, Bo-Kapie invites you for a longer stay.

The rates displayed are for up to three people. Additional people will be charged at R200 per night.

Aloe Ridge is situated on a small ridge overlooking the Breede River. This self-catering accommodation is an absolute must for couples and families wanting a getaway from the city life with all the creature comforts.

Aloe Ridge comprises luxury thatched houses with en-suite bathrooms in a magnificent riverside setting. Each thatch house features two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, TV with DStv, a fireplace, and a braai area.

PLEASE NOTE : The road from the N2 to our lodge is gravel. These are not main roads and are therefore maintained at sporadic intervals, please ensure you travel safely along them. The last 750meters to Aloe Ridge are slightly more bumpy, we do recommend a high clearance vehicle, however we have had many standard low clearance vehicles make this trip with no issue. We do recommend that you take this slowly and you will be fine. When you get to reception you can have a look at the road for yourself, should you not feel comfortable in your own vehicle then we do have a free shuttle service available that will take you the last 750m to Aloe Ridge.
