Woelwaters is the ideal family getaway situated on the beachfront at Onrusrivier, a small town on the Southern Cape coast a mere hour's drive from Cape Town International Airport. Here you can relax in comfortable beach house-style while watching Southern Right whales frolicking in Walker Bay from the patio. Indulge in the tranquil views of the Onrus lagoon, a haven for many bird species and the occasional Cape clawless otter. Join in the surfers' fun by day when they test their skills against the Atlantic Ocean, or let the waves lull you to sleep at night. Onrusrivier is home to many artists and offers the discerning visitor the opportunity to browse through its interesting shops and galleries, with the holiday bustle of the town of Hermanus only 4 km away. The Milkwood Restaurant, nestled between milkwood trees and overlooking the lagoon, mere minutes away from the house, provides sumptuous meals for the cook who needs a break.
Enjoy wine tasting on wine estates in the Hemel and Aarde Valley, or beer tasting at the Birkenhead Brewery in the nearby town of Stanford. The golf enthusiast has at least three golf courses to choose from, all within 15 minutes' drive. The fynbos-clad mountains overlooking Walker Bay boasts a variety of colourful fynbos species, making it a preferred destination for the hiking enthusiast. When diving, please make sure that you have the necessary permits as special care should be taken of the marine resources of this area. The self-catering accommodation has recently been renovated in typical beach house fashion - practical but stylish. It consists of two fully-equipped units, one sleeping seven, and the other sleeping four persons. Special care is taken to ensure the privacy of our guests. It is ideally suited to be rented as one unit, as it is connected through a special doorway. Outside, a sliding wooden fence ensures privacy for separate groups, but can be opened to join the back and sea-facing sections of the yard.
The main house comprises three bedrooms, each having a bathroom at its disposal. The main bathroom has a shower, toilet, washbasin and a bath, while the other two has a toilet, shower and basin. The main bedroom overlooks the bay, with French doors opening to an inviting patio. The fully-equipped, open-plan kitchen adjoins the dining room with a table seating at least ten people. The living room also overlooks the bay, with French doors opening to the beachfront. A fireplace ensures cosy comfort on chilly nights. The annex is a totally independent unit comprising two bedrooms, one in the loft and the other sea-facing, with French doors opening to the beachfront. Each bedroom has a bathroom at its disposal, consisting of a shower, washbasin and toilet. The kitchen and open-plan living area opens up to a barbecue area ideally situated to enjoy the sea view.
