Huab Lodge Namibia is a premier all inclusive Lodge with 8 Luxurious Bungalows and an extraordinary atmosphere in the scenic nature of Damaraland. With a hearty welcome to Huab Lodge located in Damaraland in the heart of Namibia, your hosts invite you to recover from the stresses of your day to day lives and to discover and absorb the soul of the African bush. Enjoy the comforts of the lodge, the relaxed atmosphere and the personal attention as well as the stunning landscape with its impressive variety of animal and plant life.

Discover for yourself or together with a knowledgeable guide the beauty and the fascination of 'the place where kopjes grow like giant mushrooms and elephants tread like ants' as so succinctly expressed by Oria Douglas-Hamilton.

Huab Lodge began as an idea to generate funds to save the desert-adapted elephant from being harassed and shot. Since 1992 awareness regarding environmental conservation has increased, as has tourism and the "value" of the elephant is changing.

The original farmland is a small, unique area called Monte Carlo which boasts stunning views bisected by the mostly dry Huab River. The former rest camp which accommodated tourists in the 1970s now houses the lodge's staff. At a permanent spring, just down river from the old rest camp where the German Schutz Truppe built the so-called German Bath in the late 1890's, Huab Lodge was erected.

Despite its size the unique main building blends into its surroundings. The irregular thatch roof mirrors a mountain on the opposite bank of the river. The stone and thatch bungalows spread along the elevated north bank of the river ensuring a private and magnificent view - even from the shower.

Huab Lodge with all it has to offer and being off the beaten track is not a place for a single night-stop. You should allow several days to enjoy and absorb the tranquility and quiet, the welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, and the many activities. There is an airstrip near the lodge for those that wish to fly in. Special attention has been given during the construction phase of the lodge to provide access to physically disabled guests.

Gabus Game Ranch offers lodge accommodation, close to Otavi in Namibia, and invites you to an oasis of green garden, blue swimming pool and a cool lapa. Beyond the pool, the first signs of African wildlife, leisurely enjoying a drink or frolicking around the salt rock, may be viewed.

Gabus is ideally situated en route to the Etosha National Park or to the Caprivi. Whether at the beginning or end of your journey, Gabus offers the perfect setting to linger and enjoy all the country has to offer. Here you can enjoy beautifully, well-kept lodge settings amidst nature and all it has to offer.

Gabus, the name derived from the Bushman language meaning 'the place of water', is located in a land usually associated with desert and dry landscape. The lodge has risen on the 6,000-hectare farming land close to Otavi, This is the place where the weary traveller may stop for an unexpected refreshment and revitalization of body and soul.

Luxuriously elegant rooms invite guests to linger and enjoy. All rooms look out onto the natural water hole which is frequented all day long by some of the abundant game found in the region. Accommodation consists of a variety of different rooms, all en-suite with showers and fitted with air-conditioners. High quality bedding of only cotton and linen sheeting is used for that extra luxurious sleeping experience.

Kudu, waterbuck, impala and gnu are hardly disturbed by the movement of visitors around the entertainment area, thus watching the animals arrive for a drink and lick at the saltrock is one of the most relaxing and memorable experiences of a stay. To enjoy this pleasurable experience, you have the choice of witnessing nature from the solitude of your own room, or alternatively with friends and fellow visitors from the lapa at the pool.

Dinner is served on an elegant table setting where once again guests have the choice of eating intimately by themselves or together as a group with fellow guests, where new friendships are made, experiences exchanged and just a jolly friendly atmosphere prevails, where food is lovingly prepared with only fresh ingredients. The drinking hole is lit by night for nature lovers who can’t seem to get enough of watching the various movements during the night.

The Twyfelfontein area, being a very vulnerable and delicate ecosystem, is renowned for some of the best examples of Bushman paintings and Rock Engravings in Southern Africa. Twyfelfontein Country Lodge is situated 100 km's west of Khorixas, Damaraland, Namibia. Is 260 km's north-northeast of Henties Bay, and 5 km's from historic rock-art site. Interesting rock formations and the remainder of prehistoric volcanic action can be seen among the most prominent geographic features including the Organ Pipes, Burnt Mountain, Doros Crater and the Petrified Forest. The fauna and flora of Damaraland is typical of the Pro-Namib region and plant species include the magnificent Welwitschia, Moringa and a variety of the Commiphora species. The Desert adapted Elephant, Rhinoceros, Giraffe, Springbok, and Ostrich include some of the wildlife which can be found living in total harmony with the community and the communal farming activities of the Uibasen Twyfelfontein Conservancy.

Twyfelfontein boasts 56 en-suite double rooms, reception, lounge, curio shop, open dining room, bar and swimming pool. In construction utmost care was taken to reduce the visual impact on the environment and to blend into the mountainside with the use of thatch roofs, natural stone and paint colors toning in with the surrounding rock formations.

Day excursions may include flights over the area by small plane, walks, and/or guided safaris into the surrounds. Beautiful sunsets and endless vistas relaxes body, mind and spirit. Among the local fauna, none is more fascinating than the elusive desert-adapted elephant, Loxodonta Africans, which permanently occupies the desert during the driest periods. These elephants walk up to 130 kilometres between water holes, covering up to 70km a day and sometimes drinking only every fourth day.

Children welcome under parents supervision.

West of the Waterberg Plateau Park, the vast plains are occasionally broken by the remnants of ancient sandstone outcrops which once covered large areas of northern Namibia. Nestled among the Omboroko Mountains lies Okonjima, a Herero name meaning "Place of the Baboons".

This is much more than just a lodge; Okonjima is also home to The Africat Foundation. Africat became internationally renowned after featuring in an award-winning documentary that was filmed for the Discovery Channel in 1995 and 1996. Namibia is home to the world’s largest wild or free-ranging cheetah population. The majority of this country’s cheetahs and leopards can be found on approximately 7,000 commercial farms. These large carnivores occasionally prey upon the livestock that roam unprotected in the veld.

As a result, carnivores are often regarded as vermin by the livestock and game-farming community and are deliberately trapped and killed. Africat has had to take on a large number of captive cats and carnivores no longer wanted by other establishments. Among the carnivores being rescued, researched and rehabilitated by Africat are cheetah, leopard, lion, caracal, wild dog and hyaena.

Okonjima is a family-run business. Wayne, Donna and Rosalea Hanssen, who co-own and live on the property, bought Okonjima from their parents, Val and Rose, in 1993 turning the then cattle farm into a conservation project. Today The Africat Foundation is the "world’s largest cheetah and leopard rescue and release programme", and has saved more than 850 cats since 1993.

Okonjima offers several types of accommodation, ranging from Bush Camp chalets and suites to Main Camp double en-suites and The Villa. The Grand Villa comprises two rooms and two suites and can accommodate eight to 12 guests, while Bush Suites comprise two rooms, sleeping a total of four guests. The Bush Camp features eight unique thatched African-style chalets sleeping a maximum of 16 guests, and the Main Camp's 10 en-suite double rooms sleep a total of 20 guests.

All four camps have a swimming pool, outside fireplace, and an independent kitchen with restaurant and bar facilities. The Villa, Bush Suite and Bush Camp also have an indoor fireplace and each have a waterhole where wildlife may be viewed.

Activities at Okonjima include leopard-viewing, cheetah tracking on foot, nature and Bushman trails, photography, and bird-watching. Visitors can also observe some of The Africat Foundation's programme at work and learn more about these amazing and beautiful animals.
