Flycatcher Castle is the ideal fantasy escape within the Lowveld, perched on the edge of the Drakensburg escarpment, centrally situated in Mpumalanga. It is close to the beautiful wonders of God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondawels and the Pinnacle.

The accommodation consists of six individually decorated suites named after classical composers. The castle perfectly complements its surroundings and reflects an awareness and love of nature, with beautiful views across the Mantitshi wetland and river. It mirrors the peacefulness, as the rooms don’t have TVs but rather echo the sounds of nature.

The castle features sculptures including bronzes of eagles, antilopes, spiritual themes and the human body. A great variety of antique furniture, ornaments and art within the castle have been collected throughout Southern Africa and other continents, creating a grand masterpiece.

A little eden is found within the garden, with a colony of dwarf chameleons, frogs and a variety of birds. An abundance of wild flowers can be found within a radius of 200 meters from the castle, ideal for the avid photographer.

    Graskop South Africa

    Graskop Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

Graskop is the closest town to the Blyde River Canyon and Bourke’s Luck Potholes, so it’s a convenient place to stop for lunch on the Panorama Route. Well, it is convenient but it’s more convenient if you decide to have lunch at any time other than lunchtime, which is when the tour buses disgorge their banana-republic-clad hordes.

It’s one of those apparently one-street towns with a whole host of restaurants and craft shops all strung out along the main thoroughfare. There are loads of pretty guesthouses in the area. Graskop is very close to Sabie and Hazyview, so you could do any of the activities in either of these two towns from Graskop, and it’s conveniently close to the Kruger National Park.
