About Gecko Creek Wilderness Lodge

Gecko Creek Wilderness Lodge offers self-catering Cederberg accommodation, located on a 517-hectare private nature reserve. Accommodation is provided in cabins and tents overlooking the valleys and mountains.

We offer full self-catering facilities as well as prepared meals on request. Features include a cool lapa for gathering and cooking, a fire-warmed open-air boma, a stunning salt-water swimming pool, and outstanding ablution facilities.

This mountain hideaway borders the 80,000-hectare Cederberg Reserve, a world of awe-inspiring rock formations, bushman caves and endless hiking trails. The area offers the solitude and grandeur setting of ancient and mystical times, with magical sunrises and sunsets, while the Olifants River is a short distance away, allowing for idyllic swimming and picnics.

The Cederberg is home to the regal Cape leopard, baboons, lynx, antelope and 165 bird species, including the magnificent Black eagle and Eagle owls. Economical scenic flights are also available over the West Coast and Cederberg, and an award-winning vineyard and horseback riding are optional day trips nearby.

We do not allow children under the age of 16 years.

We loved the stay but it is a bit to primitive for our liking. Have to walk to your cabin in sand that is like sea sand with all your luggage. Cabins are quite far from ablution block and kitchen. The people are friendly and the bonfire at night makes the stay better.

Aside from a slightly overly excited crowd of American Students who were touring SA, our time here was AMAZING! So peaceful and quiet. The staff were super and the food we ordered through them was great as well.We will certainly be going back again soon!

I would like to recommend Gecko Creek Wilderness Lodge to anybody looking to break away from the City Life. My partner and I was looking for exactly that and we were so amazed by the setting and friendly staff when we arrived. We are definitely going back soon. Great value for money and good for the soul.
