Most of visitors looking for accommodation in Hermanus prefer to stay either within the town of Hermanus or the nearby Gansbaai, which is popular for shark cage diving! Others choose places to stay across the Botrivier Lagoon in Kleinmond, a UNESCO biosphere, or inland in Caledon, the home of mineral-rich hot springs. Other popular areas are: Onrus, Franskraal, Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay, places in Grabouw, and Stanford.
Consider getting accommodation outside of Hermanus! On the Botrivier Lagoon is Fisherhaven, which is where you will find an abundance of fauna and flora. A short drive to the south of Hermanus is De Kelders, a coastal village which is also a great whale watching location. Head further south along the coast, and you’ll soon find Pearly Beach, home to the longest undisturbed beach in the Western Cape! Head north of Hermanus, inland, and you’ll be in Villiersdorp, a beautiful town close to the scenic Theewaterskloof Dam. Should you rather prefer a more inland location, northeast of Hermanus is the charming Genadendal, which sits wonderfully at the foot of the hills of the Riviersonderend Nature Reserve.
