Fynbos Guest Farm is a 57-hectare retreat of farmland, fynbos and renosterbos. We are a working farm and you will always see somebody busy, whether it is felling alien trees, digging, fixing, or general maintenance. We have a speed-limit of 15 km per hour for the safety of our guests, children, dogs, birds and animals, and to keep the dust down. We also have a no-noise policy after 10 pm and expect guests to always respect the privacy and peace of fellow caravanners and campers. Each cottage is fully equipped, with linen and towels provided, and features a fireplace and an outdoor barbecue area. One cottage sleeps four, another cottages sleep two, and our our cottage sleeps three guests in two bedrooms. We also offer nine campsites, each fairly private and nestled in the fynbos. The clean and beautifully decorated ablution facilities are serviced daily, and there are electric points at each site but no water; water can be collected nearby from the ablution block. There are also nine caravan sites that are reasonably private. Just ask us and we will gladly tell you about the other exciting activities available nearby, from cheese-tasting to a visit at a chocolatier. We look forward to having you as our guest at Fynbos Guest Farm.

Silwerfontein is a beautiful pet-friendly working farm that is declared a Natural Heritage Site, surrounding the Voëlvlei Dam, with stunning fynbos- and mountain views. There are four charming cottages available, as well as a Double Decker Bus and two Campsites set in the forest. Since the farm borders on a nature conservancy and the area surrounding the Voëlvlei Dam, an interesting variety of game and birdlife can be seen. The cottages are fully equipped and private, with clean bedding provided. Guests must bring their own bath- and swimming towels. Solar energy powers the lights, and additional oil lamps add to the ambience. Wood-burning fireplaces turn the cottages into snug and warm havens in winter. Wake up to the sound of nature; with no TVs, radios or hairdryers to disturb the peace. A range of hiking- and biking trails are available, with more exiting routes in the process of being developed. We also have our own herd of wild ponies happily roaming the farm.

    Cape Winelands South Africa

    Cape Winelands Camping/Caravanning Accommodation

Although there are a number of wine growing areas in South Africa, the bulk of our wine comes from the area we classically call 'the Winelands' that includes Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek. The production of wine has shaped the development of this area for over 300 years, and it has been proposed for consideration as a World Heritage Cultural Landscape.
The bright green corduroy-patterned vineyards stretching out to the bases of purple mountains, thatched, whitewashed, gabled houses dreaming in the shade of ancient oaks and even the red and white roses planted at the ends of the vines define this beautiful area.

Pretty as it is, though, the proof of the Winelands in the tasting - and the wine is pretty darn good. And, on the subject of tasting - there are loads of great restaurants, coffee shops and attractive guest houses with wonderful menus and extensive wine lists. Once just a collection of independent wineries, each doing their own thing, the Winelands has become a tad more user-friendly, with the formation of wine routes.

It makes good marketing sense for the wine producers and it's also easier for you because the various cellars are well sign-posted and they feature on specially drawn maps so you can chart your course between them with naval precision. Many of the wineries also make cheese, or grow olives and press oil, so there's a lot more than wine to be had.
There's more than just food and wine, though. The scenery - both built and natural - is spectacular and there is so much to do. You could go for a gentle day walk in a nature reserve or even do an extended hike not far off. Quad biking trips, horse rides, wagon rides and many other attractions await your pleasure, and there is a host of cultural attractions, ranging from township tours and home stays to cultural festivals and theatres.

Keen to go Quad Biking in the Winelands and know your pinoir noir from chenin blanc? These fun and informative tours start in the field and end in the cellar!
