Thank you to Dorothy for her wonderful hospitality. We felt very welcome and comfortable. Thank you for the delicious breakfast which we enjoyed while watching the sea. We would defintely recommend La-peng and stay there agan too.

La-peng Guesthouse
La-peng means 'be at home' in the Tswana language. It is a warm, homely place in La Mercy, Durban and is owned and managed by Dorothy and Alex Brackmann.

The guest house has five bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed. Three of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms while two bedrooms share a bathroom; perfect for a family with children. Pet lovers will be delighted to get acquainted with the two friendly resident cats and a loving dog. Four of the bedrooms, as well as the front yard veranda, have a marvellous sea view and lucky guests may have the priviledge of catching a glimpse of the magnificent whales and playful dolphins seasonally frolicking in the waves.

The guest house is ideally located; it is walking distance from the beach. Guests can cross over the highway and take a relaxing stroll along the shore to enjoy the tropical ocean breeze anytime. We are situated between Ballito and Durban City, close to the Gateway Shopping Centre in Umhlanga Rocks, not too far from the famous Zimbali Golf Course and just ten minutes’ drive from the King Shaka International Airport.

Standard continental breakfast is served every morning, however, a request for a special breakfast may be made in advanced by guests with dietary restrictions or other preferences. Coffee and tea are made available in each room. There is a flat-screen TV in the communal lounge with full DStv.
