Took one look at the place and was totally unimpressed. Information about the place was misleading when we did online enquirers. We forfeited our deposit and moved on.

80% of the roof was leaking when it rains, HtH was poured on the pool everyday until I approach the guy who cleans the pool that he must put it once a week.
Sometimes we had no water to bath or cook. I will never recommend any of my friends of family to go there.

The hospitality was first class, the place is great and close to all the activities we did.

Had a great weekend at The Farm! Very hospitable and excellent food. The owner is very involved and helpful.

The Farm needs maintenance urgently. The braai is in a state and you as guest must improvise to be able to enjoy a braai. No windows in the kitchen. The necessary utensils in the kitchen is non existing. The
swimming pool has a leak and the pump is day and night on. The Farm has so much potential but at the moment its being neglected. Chrissie Jacobs

Many thanks for giving me Thumbs up for Comfort, Location, Facilities and Value for money! The Farmhouse was built for King Swazi the Second, and being a kind of historical building I always tried to keep it in the spirit of this great King, never mind his son. Its a high maintenance building and it would have been easy just to tear it down and replace it with with some modern architecture. but I always loved this house as it was and maintained it on a ;constent basis. When you arrive I told you explicitly that what you want you get, if its missing! you will get it. If you don like the original braai facility you get another one. Its the same with the utensils. About the pool pump, yes it has to work all the time, as its hot and without movement the water would be murky. The pool did not have a leak, it was a connection of the brand new pool pump witch we replace every 3 year no matter what, and one of the connections did have a slight leak, I am sorry about that. As you said to my my manager you wold like to come back, you are welcome. But please talk to us when you have a problem.

Myself and some friends stayed for a well deserved timeout and this was a great place for that. We were a little disappointed to realize the pool was actually at the house and not communal but the people staying there let us use it so that was OK. We had food ordered and delivered to us from the restaurant to the room; this is service. Mike was always available for us which was great. Staff members were all quite helpful with all the requests we had.

The service is bad. Restaurant is non functional at 11h00. The place has minimal lights and no lights in the toilet area. No WiFi connect for weekend.. Road to accommodation no existing.. Small dogs on the premises so you have to check the whole time when driving.. Not going back soon... ps.. no mirror in the place.. I would not recommend this place

The client was not in the Restaurant at any time, only her partner came down at 11:00 on Saturday very quickly, but did not request any service. Is it untrue that we were not functioning.

The LUVUT has romantic, dimmable lights, as it's a ZULU hut interpretation. It's untrue that in the toilet area there would be no light. The client also switched off the lights outside by herself and this lights up the whole area very nicely.

It is untrue that we did not offer WI FI, even its not advertised for the LUVUT, as the client was able to watch Rugby Saturday afternoon at the pool area. There was also Internet connection in the LUVUT, but via a cable, it was only the router that had mal functioned and had to be disconnected.

It is untrue that there is no road up to the accommodation, we just don't allow cars to drive up there, as it's disturbing the views and creates noise and smog for others. Its also because of safety, as the parking is monitored by CCV cameras and motion detectors.

The client got a mirror immediatly after requested by her partner. Again the LUVUT is a ZULU hut interpretaion where everything is down to basics. We do of course always react to our wishes of our clients without any hesitation and so it's untrue that the client did not have a mirror.
The small dogs are Puppies, sorry about that we have Puppies, we should not have them, but Jessi my guard dog was naughty and just managed to become a mama before we could fix her.

Reviews like the one above saddens me, as we are very dedicated to what do, which can be seen in many other reviews about us. The motive for this bad rating can only be assumed, as the client did not indicate any unhappiness during their stay, opposite actually is true, as we got thumbs up when asked if everything was fine several times when we were asking.

I would like to thank you guys for the excellent service we have received with our stay @ the FARM.
We enjoyed it a lot and would definitely recommend and return to this FARM as we felt very welcomed and I would like to thank MIKE for the admirable stay.

The food was superb and the staff was brilliant.

On the arrival of Friday the night we did get a bit cold due to the weather but I do understand that it is unforeseen and nature had to do its thing.

I have also asked my kids how they have experienced the stay and the response was WOW, so much sightseeing the animals the food the nature the loved it all.

Most comfortable, cosy unit. The fireplace inside was a definite wow! Loved the privacy and tranquility. Will most definitely book again!

The hospitality from Mike and his staff was excellent. The rondavel was beautiful and the views from our rondavel were breath taking. Even the food from the African Swiss Restaurant was delicious. An amazing relaxing place to spend the weekend at.

The accommodation was exactly what the owner said it was going to be...a Zulu Hut interpretation but i do believe that more emphasis could have been put on the fact that there would be No TV, No WI-FI, almost No lighting, No Mirror and Nowhere to hang your clothes. Some maintenance was sorely needed as well because all the taps were broken. We were never given the key to the door which led to the outside bath and never bothered to ask as it would only accommodate one person at a time. Restaurant did not serve what was on the menu and also ran out of certain dishes. The stay was pleasant enough but is more suited to back packers. The picture in the top left hand corner is something we did not see or was never mentioned to us.

we enjoyed our stay. the facilities are well taken care of. We took a walk on saturday morning up the mountain for a clear lake view. it was such a nice experience. the only issue is the level of noise as the cars and bikes pass by on the main road. but all in all, we had a great weekend

Had a wonderful stay at The Farm this weekend. the view from the Pappas is amazing together with the hospitality of the owner and the staff as well as the food at the African swiss. would definitely recommend anyone looking for a nice quite weekend away from the city.

Loved the week we spent at the Farm. The hosts were outstanding & it was wonderful to just enjoy nature while being close enough to take part in the activities around the dam. Will most definitely be doing this again.

The place looked pretty boring and ugly but I got the best treatment from the owner and his workers...They were very friendly

The place is lovely and so very cosy. We even appreciate the extra effort taken with the flower petals. My only critique would be how under resourced the place is for a self catering unit. please consider adding a microwave, cutting board, knives as well as more pots. Other than having to improvise with catering we had a lovely retreat as we had planned.

We really appreciated the view, the privacy of the establishment, the cleanliness of the place and the overall hospitality of the owner!! Strategically located around attractions.

The place was sooo quite and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Clean and perfect rooms for all 10 ladies. Mike and his wife Lizzy were so friendly and welcoming, always there when we needed something. Will recommend to anyone.

Loved our stay at the Farm for the weekend. Having the African Swiss restaurant on site was awesome as we could just relax and be at home once we arrived without having ro drive anywhere. Really recommend.

I would really not recommend anyone to stay here. The place has a lot of potential,but needs to be renovated.....The one room does not have any windows, just a door and therefor no fresh are in the room.The bathrooms were smelly. When we arrived just after four in the afternoon, they were still busy "cleaning"......we booked in January already..... We were having a nap the one afternoon when the "cleaning" lady knocked, woke my grandchild and she wanted to take out something from a locked cupboard in the one bedroom.....very unprofessional. The owner, Mike was very friendly,but we really did not get what we oaid for This was the worst accomadation I ever booked through Safari now and you should visit the establishment .......

It was easy to find the place, Mike the host was friendly and welcoming. He made us feel at home. The place has beautiful views and a small hiking trail. Overall the experience at the farm was great.

What an amazing experience, awesome view while enjoying the fresh air.

Beautiful view no doubt we stayed in the luvut room. We had very bad service from the place no one checked on us at all and we needed a few things such as toilet paper cleaning our rooms and emptying bins. I would not recommend anyone to go there. Electricity went out and we weren't even offered candles only after we called to request was it brought up to the room we only stayed two nights and left. When we arrived there our room was occupied for someone having a massage i think it is very inappropriate as we drove from far and we were exhausted we had to wait for the room to be emptied of the occupants the only claims he was not aware im not sure how that's possible if you own the place.

Mike was welcoming and he made our stay pleasent, nonetheless the place has an amazing view, but really need renovation. kitchen, sitting area equipments and bedroom equipments/ bedding need a revamp

An awesome stay in the Farm House. It was spacious, views are amazing, Mike along with the staff were very friendly and a very sweet Great Dane.

We got lost on the way and called Mike who gave us simple directions.

We will definitely go back.

Everything was perfect, the luvut room we were staying in was out of this world and it had and amazing view...Mike is friendly and goes that extra mile for his guests.....We are surely coming back soon.

So peaceful with the most beautiful views!! We barely saw anyone which was amazing, felt like we were in our own little town. Thank you to the gentleman who welcomed us and the lady who saw us off. Weekend getaway defined.

Stayed in the guesthouse with family including a toddler. Very ample and comfortable accommodation.. Rustic feel with very good service.Tried the restaurant once and surprised by the great quality and choice of menu/food. It is only 40 mins from Joburg so ideal weekend break.

This is a magnificent house with an amazing view,
But it lacks love and seriously needs to be maintained.
The rooms were large but cold in Winter.
The kitchen needed better equipment in it.
Light switches did not work, external doors did not lock( which in SA is a priority).
Mike was great, but the property needs TLC and for the price we paid we felt that it was not worth it. We had done a road trip around SA and stayed in various places and this was the least satisfactory property. for the price.
It fails to tell you that it is right next to a very busy mainroad so the traffic noise was rather load until about 11pm each night.

We stayed at the Papas and it had the most gorgeous view. Mike, the owner, is so warm and charming. I do hope to return. 

The main farmhouse is very spacious and we had a really fun boys weekend there (although it would also be ideal for a couples weekend). Mike was very helpful and we had a really good time.

First of all  I would like to thank Mike for being such a great host. He welcomed us so warmly and was always available to assist. He is one of the few lodge owners who truly know how to treat their guests.

The unit had a lovely view. Would have been perfect if it was self catering and you were able to get to the unit with your vehicle.

Our stay at The Farmwas soo awesome Great service from Mike and his team. It is so quite and tranquil. The view of Hartebeesport Dam was magical.

The food was delicious (Especially the Pork Belly).

Will definitely visist again soon.

We enjoyed our stay at the Farm even though it was in the middle of a heat wave! The pool was amazing...

There was lots of space for our family and even our 2 dogs came with us.

It is really is worth a walk to the top of hill - the views are spectacular! There are old stone structures at the top, I assume from the Anglo-Boer war.

We also enjoyed the meals we had at African Swiss, the food (Pork Belly, Fillet Medallions, Rump Steak and especially the Pizza was delicious!)

Very nice and quite place.

Our stay at the farm was fantastic, i wouldn't recommend Luvut hut/chalet, it is very untidy however the rest of the chalet are reasonably tidy. I did not enjoy the food at the restaurant and i recommend self-catering. The place is next to many adventures places, you can basically wake up and go to any place of your liking. I will definitely go back but opt for self-catering stay 

We had an amazing stay at The Farm, the place is beautiful and the history behind it is makes the place even more amazing. Lovely restaurant and amazing caring staff. I would go recommend it to everyone.   

My daughter and I had a very pleasant stay at The Farm this past weekend. The place has a 'homey feel' to it. The owner, Mike and his staff are very warm and welcoming and made our stay even more enjoyable.

Very cool place. If you want to hide away from the world The Farm is your place. Relaxation is their speciality. Great nearby attractions. 

My friends and I had a really great time at The Farm. The hospitality was great, Mike is the absolute best and even the ladies who were attending to us were really nice and patient with us. The rooms are nice and spacious. I would recommend the venue at any time.

The service was excellent and a very good place to relax!

Was very dissapointed, that our room was not made up yet when we got there. The bed was uncomfortable, the kitchenette was not tidy, the carpet cld b cleaner, the Rondavel we booked was not neat at all. We had booked 4 nights but stayed one n lost one night's worth of deposit as i could not stand the unclean details.Add to that the fact that the pool is given as a facility but u get there n its for guests who rent the house only yet its not specified on the site

Thank you for an absolutely amazing weekend at The Farm. We enjoyed it so much! It really is the perfect place for a weekend away (that's not too far a drive from the city). I had such a relaxed weekend at The Farm. The owner is also very good and goes out of his way to help. They also serve the best pizza. I will definitely come back when I need to get away again.

Great Mojitos! I sent my friend over as a birthday present for one night. Never having been there myself, I was nervous, but she came back very relaxed and impressed with the food, Mike himself and just the whole setting. I will definitely be booking a night for myself!

We spent one night at the farm but could have spent a lot more. The accommodation is really good for families.

We stayed in the Luvut for two nights. The Luvut is an amazing experience with its king-size bed, fireplace, outdoor bath, ambient lighting and amazing views of the Hartbeespoort Dam and Magalies Mountains! Truly a great romantic experience!

The Farm is a tranquil and relaxing getaway, just outside Johannesburg. The AfricanSwiss Restaurant is wonderful and Mike, the owner, was the most gracious host. We will definitely return to The Farm again.

The Farm was a different experience, not what we expected, but in a good way. We were invited to experience the food at African Swiss restaurant, which was absolutely wonderful. Mike definitely has a passion for food and desserts; the desserts especially were amazing! Before supper we took a walk up to the top of the koppie to watch the sunset, and we were guided up the trail by The Farm's 'horse', Carla, an extremely intellegent Great Dane and her three-legged friend Jay. They guided us all the way up the trail and waited for us to see the beautiful sunset and then guided us all the way back down again. It was the highlight of our short little stay at The Farm. The beds could do with a firmer matress and some softer pillows but the trip there is not about staying in your room and sleeping so we didn't mind it. We sometimes forget what our country has to offer us. Take the time to explore all these different little places is definitely worthwhile. Thanks for a different experience.

If you just want to relax and enjoy a couple of days to yourself, I can highly recommend The Farm and Luvut. From the time that I made the booking up until the end Mike was friendly and helpful. I really recommend this.

The place is so ancient, it nice. It makes you feel at home.If your ancient at heart, the place is for you. The place is beautiful, it gives you peace of mind. The dam is not far from The Farm, the view is overwhelming. The restaurant is ancient, we loved the fireplace, it warms you up while your waiting for your food. The smell coming out of fireplace revives you. For sure we will be back. I will definitely recommend the place to our friends.

I went to the farm for a week with my fiance and loved every minute there. The place is beautiful and central to so many fascinating places. The staff was great and Mike, the owner is by far one of the most hospitable people I know. I would gladly go back and suggest as a great getaway to all my friends.

We really enjoyed our stay at the farm. The location of the accommodation is great with the view of the lake but still close to Pretoria and also Jo'burg. The staff were friendly and also the food in the restaurant is delicious (try the ribs!).

A place of accommodation which is full of character - maybe not for everyone however we loved it. The accommodation in places did seem to be in a slight state of disrepair but you got the feeling that many projects start but do not always get finished. However this did not bother us at all and the restaurant was fantastic!

We had a wonderful stay at The Farm, the facility is very beautiful with it natural setting. The rondavel we were booked in has a spectacular view of the dam and the night time view is absolutely stunning. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful in keeping the rooms clean. We really enjoyed our stay at The Farm. Mike the owner is such a nice, friendly. helpful guy. The Swiss African restaurant which he also owns has the most delicious organic food and is just a couple of minutes walk from the accommodation. We dined there on the two evenings we stayed and thoroughly recommend going there.

Mike and Donovan plus all the staff are absolutely friendly and will go the extra mile for their guests. We had a wonderful stay. It is wonderful to meet people that still preserve nature and create a hide-away within a natural bush surrounding. The food are excellent. We will definitely make use of the facilities again in future.
