This is one of the most stunning places we have visited, and Hannes and Marietjie are such special people. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back there for a longer stay.

A bit about this place
Medike is a mountain sanctuary deep in the Soutpansberg. The Sand River or Mongesi with its impressive gorge and quartzite cliffs forms an outstanding feature of this natural Heritage Site.
Here the wildlife enthusiast is rewarded spectacular vistas, star filled nights, beautiful flora, animal and birdlife.
Marked hiking trails meander through rugged gorges, forested kloofs and mountain streams to waterfalls, spectacular rock formations and a mysterious Bushman shelter with ancient rock art.
Guests can stay in Murango cottage; build against two enormous boulders, or in the pioneer cottage, Dzhiawolala, the Venda name given to the old trading post dating from the early nineteen thirties. Masianoke log cottage has a thatched deck with a beautiful 360º view on the surrounding mountains.
Please note there is no electricity and the cottages have gas fridges and stoves and paraffin lamps.
