We were made very welcome. Home from home accommodation. Rooms comfortable. Breakfast was a bit on the basic side and lacking in quantity.

Laid back and peaceful
My parents-in-law stayed at the Stilbay River Lodge on 31 January 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They were amazed and delighted at the Honesty Bar and the fact that everything was so laid back and peaceful. They felt at home and said they would visit the River Lodge again anytime.

Description
A comfortable 354 Km drive from Cape Town through the countryside, flanked by majestic mountain ranges, sweeping wheat lands, forests, lakes and quaint little towns brings you to the Bay Of Sleeping Beauty, Stillbay and the Stillbay River Lodge. This restored thatched homestead is situated on 68 hectares of farmland rich in Fynbos, with 1.5 km of river frontage and prolific birdlife. Jenny and Stuart Smith offer personal service and comfortable en suite bedrooms with bath or shower and a honeymoon suite with bath and private patio. Enjoy a delicious full English breakfast and for dinner there are numerous restaurants nearby. Nature trails, bird watching, golf, tennis, horse riding, bowls and boating nearby. Sweeping white sandy beaches; safe swimming in the Indian Ocean; unrivaled fishing venues and one of the best surf spots in South Africa. Whale watching in season: June - October. See the unique feeding of the tame eels and visit the ancient Strandlooper fish traps - 2500 years old.
