This rambling family home has been built in true Stanford style. The large downstairs living space has an open-plan lounge and dining area, and ends in an efficiently spaced kitchen with spacious pantry. True to the architectural style, the ceiling in the kitchen is lined with reeds, and almost all the windows are dressed with original wooden shutters. An unusual shaped fireplace in the lounge keeps one warm and cosy during chilly, wet winters. The kitchen is well equipped, but without dishwasher and washing machine. The pantry has adequate storage space and double happy doors lead from the kitchen to the entertainment area, with seating and dining space overlooking the spacious garden with a large sparkling pool, set in a lovely garden with mature trees and stunning views of the Klein River Mountains. A spacious entertainment room upstairs allows children to play to their hearts content. A small garden cottage is set in the pretty patio garden. This can sleep an additional two guests in a double bed with an en-suite shower room.

This is one of Stanford’s original cottages. It has been tenderly restored with shuttered windows and doors, and tastefully furnished in traditional, uncluttered style. The living area opens out onto a deep, shaded patio with a portable barbecue facility. It has beautiful views across part of the village to the mountains, and is located just around the corner from the river. There is a large, open garden with ample room for play. The lounge has an open fireplace, and satellite TV and guests are welcome to bring their own decoder and smart card. The well equipped, separate kitchen includes a dishwasher, and there is also a separate laundry with washer and dryer.

Light and sunny, the open plan lounge/dining area includes a fully equipped kitchenette with a double door fridge freezer, two plate stove, oven and a microwave. A comfortable couch and rattan chairs nestle at the built-in fireplace. Meals can be enjoyed at the sturdy Oregon pine dining table and antique colonial chairs. Situated in the quiet western edge of the village, it is a block away from the river and proclaimed nature reserve. Just a short walk takes one to large open fields; ideal for bike riding, exploring and kicking balls. The easy flow, open plan design of lounge, dining and kitchen leads onto a paved courtyard and beyond to the small, inviting swimming pool. The comfortable, air conditioned lounge has a flat screen TV with DSTV and DVD player. A large dining table comfortably seats eight guests. The fully equipped kitchen has a double door fridge/freezer; four plate stove with oven and a microwave and generous counter space. The fireplace between the dining area and kitchen can also be used as an indoor braai during inclement weather, whilst hot summer days may be spent at the outdoor braai next to the swimming pool or at the gas braai on the back patio.
