Plumbago is not just a beautiful guest house and peaceful retreat for travellers who wish to explore the beauties of KwaZulu-Natal, but it is also a personal place that is full of memories and meaning. We are conveniently situated in Leisure Bay - an unspoilt enclave on the lower South Coast of Kwazulu-Natal. The property is easily accessible from the N2 and it offers the ideal stopover between the Cape and KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast.

It is a magical place with a garden full of birds and exquisite indigenous plants, with the magnificent Indian Ocean just beyond. You have a choice of three bedrooms and a Garden Suite. All units are large with single beds or king-size beds, en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans and mosquito nets. The guest house offers an eclectic mix of Africa with collected antiques from around the world. We will provide you with with fresh fruit, a refreshment tray and beach towels.

Wake up every morning to the sound of the birds and then sit and watch the dolphins come in as the sun rises. Have breakfast on the verandah and gaze into a poetic canopy of trees. Spend the day on any one of the four lovely beaches in the area. Ride along the sand on horseback or just take a leisurely walk. Play golf on an excellent nearby course or visit coffee, banana and macadamia nut plantations. Amble around the quaint shops and venture down into Oribi Gorge - a place of echoes where at the base of the cliffs are rocks that are 100 million years old. Go birdwatching in the Umtamvuna River Valle which is fringed with lush green forests and home to over 300 recorded species of birds. Or simply relax in our garden and enjoy the amazing variety of birds that come and nest here, as well as the bushbuck and endangered blue duiker than wander through.
