Superior experience

One of the definitions of hospitality is the cordial and generous reception and entertainment of guests; however what we experienced included much more. We have never before in our travels experienced so much attention to detail. The Manor has the feel of an Edwardian castle filled with history surrounded by beautiful gardens. An experience that redefine what standards of excellence really mean.

Just fantastic.

Treated like Royalty, unbelievable breakfasts, lunches and dinners, at very reasonable rates. Especially liked the way Kilmorna ordered our special request wines for us.

Perfect

Our stay was perfect, from the moment we arrived to our sad departure being at Kilmorna was just so perfect for us. The rooms had every convenience and the facilities exceeded our expectations. A lot of care has gone into personal time and comfort when staying at Kilmorna. When I think back the following words come time mind: peace, tranquility, relaxation, elegance. I would encourage more people to stay it is a perfect place for couples, families and more a retreat but also a great ... more

Description

Kilmorna Manor is a unique, one of a kind home, that was designed and built by an eccentric Irishman who decided that he wanted to have the best of both worlds: his deep love of the Lowveld Bush coupled with the gracious lifestyle of an English country squire. The result is one of the most unique homes to be found in Mpumulanga. A Tudor mansion of magnificent proportions set on a 208-hectare nature reserve high up against the escarpment of Schoemanskloof. Kilmorna Manor is well situated for day expeditions in and around Mpumulanga including Kaapsehoop, Dullstroom and The Kruger National Park. Kilmorna Manor offers an experience, which includes gracious living in a serene intimate setting. Continental and English style breakfasts are served on the large patio overlooking the garden with dinners being offered in the elegant wood paneled dining room. Fine wines can be enjoyed before dinner in the old world English style pub, which features an Elizabethan style fireplace for those chilly evenings. All six exquisitely decorated en-suite bedrooms are a haven of luxury, serenity and peace. Each room includes full en-suite bathrooms featuring both bath and shower with the exception of Room one which offers a therapeutic massage shower. All bathrooms offer heated towel rails. King size four-poster beds and pure cotton sheets with comforters make all our rooms the epitome of luxury and refinement. All rooms offer DSTV, DVD players and coffee /tea making facilities as well as a mini fridge. In-room gas fireplaces and electric blankets ensure that crisp winter nights are perfectly taken care of. Kilmorna Manor offers the ultimate in pampered luxury and tranquility, starting with a sundowner on the deck of the rim flow pool surrounded by magnificent views of wide-open spaces. We also have a variety of different nature walks ranging from a gentle stroll through the gardens to a more energetic climb up the mountain. Walks are through the 600 hectare Greater Kilmorna Conservancy where you might just encounter zebra, eland, bushbuck, the indigenous red duiker or grey duiker in their natural unspoiled environment. Remember to take your binoculars for some exciting and rare bird spotting. For the more adventurous the Schoemanskloof area also offers quad bike trails, accredited hiking trails or walks along the Crocodile River – keep your eyes open for the resident hippos! For those keen fishermen, both amateur and professional who are guests at Kilmorna Manor, please remember to bring your rod and tackle for a variety of different fishing including river, lake and pond fishing. Big Sky Fly Fishing and Outdoor offers superb river fly-fishing for rainbow trout on the Sabie River or Lake Olaf. They also provide all tackle needed as well as tutoring in the art of fly-fishing. For the adrenalin junkies there is Induna Adventures who specialise in white water rafting, kloofing, abseiling, mountain biking, climbing walls and paintball adventures. Or go abseiling with Roc ‘n Rope at one of 550 cliff faces at Waterval-Boven.
