Description
Karoo Cottage is a delightful air-conditioned little cottage situated under a giant pine tree in the heart of the village of Loxton. It is fully equipped for self-catering. The cottage comprises 1 large living-cum-bedroom with 1 double bed and 1 single bed, fitted with good quality linen & bedding. The main room is wall-to-wall carpeted and includes a small dining table & chairs, comfy armchairs, and other furnishings. Television is provided, with standard SABC channels i.e. TV1, TV2, TV3, and E-TV. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, basin & toilet. The adjoining kitchen has a full-size fridge/freezer, a small microwave oven, and a 2-plate gas cooker (no oven) plus a range of cutlery, crockery, and cooking utensils. The aircon unit serves to both cool and heat the cottage, and in winter electric blankets are fitted.
Karoo Cottage has its own access and is totally private. The lockable car gate leads into a shade net-covered carport and there's a private braai area behind the cottage (also ideal for stargazing.) Wood and braai packs are available by prior arrangement. Breakfast is an optional extra - we can put ingredients into the cottage for you either for a light breakfast or self-cook - by prior arrangement. The pretty village of Loxton is small and has few facilities so the owners request that you arrange meals in advance. If you'll be self-catering, it's advisable to bring all your supplies with you from a larger centre.

Karoo Cottage is an air-conditioned cottage with one large single room, plus separate en-suite bathroom (shower, basin, loo) and separate kitchen (fridge, microwave, 2-plate gas stove, sink etc). It's fully equipped for self-catering, or B&B (meals only on request). The main room is wall-to-wall carpeted and comprises one double bed, one single bed, a table & four chairs, other small furnishings. The air-conditioner keeps the cottage lovely and cool in summer, or you can leave the old-fashioned mosquito screen door open to enjoy the breeze. In winter, the air-conditioner acts as a heater, keeping the cottage snug; and both beds have electric blankets. Parking is alongside the cottage behind a lockable gate under a shade-net carport. There is a small stone braai at the rear of the cottage in the garden.
· As Loxton is somewhat isolated in terms of accessibility to shops, we request that all meals are arranged in advance.
· If you prefer to self-cater - we suggest that you bring your food along, as there are only the barest of essentials available in Loxton's two tiny general dealers.
· Loxton is a delightful hamlet situated beneath a canopy of trees in the heart of the Karoo. This is not a destination that speaks of bright lights, but rather of bright stars. Thanks to no light or air pollution, we have awesome night skies and have seen see up to twenty satellites within two hours of star gazing.
· There are also lovely walks around the tiny, pretty village with its old vernacular architecture, you can climb our koppies (rocky hills) for never-ending views across the plains, and in spring our streets are a fairytale picture of white pear blossoms.
