The apartment was beautiful and the view was breathtaking. It was centrally located and close to all the restaurants. The place was very cozy and situated ideally in the romantic village of Kalk Bay. We loved every second of it and Harbour Place can count on our return.

The apartment is situated in a historic hotel which has been lovingly restored to its former glory and still boasts impressive thick walls, wooden floors and larger than large lead-glass windows overlooking the harbour and ocean. |

Harbour Place is probably the only self-catering holiday stay which offers a child-minding service in the evenings between 19h00 and 24h00. The service is run by our manager, who is a trained primary school teacher with almost 10 years' experience. |

Beyond that, the majestic mountains of Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town hug the coastline and the blue, blue ocean where whales and dolphins play.
It’s the start of another perfect day at Harbour Place, a luxury apartment right on the edge of Kalk Bay’s colourful harbour. Harbour Place is not just another plush seaside getaway.
Safely nestled in the prestigious Majestic Village, a unique 24-hour security village made up of several historical Kalk Bay buildings, it combines the colonial charm of the elegant Thirties with all the creature comforts of a modern beach house.
The Apartment:
Harbour Place extends over a sizable portion of the lower West wing of the original New King’s Hotel on Main Road, Kalk Bay.
Inspired by the unfussy, elegant designs of the Thirties, its interior is an eclectic mix of Art Deco and modern pieces, cleverly combined to create a space where you can relax and unwind, without ever distracting from its truly special location.
Expect to find high ceilings and exquisitely arched lead-glass windows framing a charming and unusual view of the Harbour.
Feast your senses on uncompromising luxury and quality - whether you’re padding on the Tasmanian Teak hardwood floors (complete with underfloor heating for colder winter nights) or snuggling into 100% Percale, Hand-embroidered Egyptian bed linen.
There are two large bedrooms at Harbour Place. The main bedroom has a king-sized bed with bathroom and toilet en suite, the second bedroom has two single beds with shower and en suite.
A lock-up safe and plenty of cupboard space ensure a safe and clutter-free stay. Provision has been made for two extra people on a roll-out day-bed in the spacious living area, should your party consist of more than 4.
With plenty of restaurants within a 3km radius, you might want to side-step the kitchen altogether. But should you yearn for some home cooking; the state of the art kitchen will get your creative juices flowing.
Equipped with ultra-modern appliances, including a microwave, coffee maker and dishwasher, no expense has been spared to make sure your time in the kitchen feels like part of your holiday.
The kitchen window has a beautiful view over the bay, and incorporates a convenient serving hatch which lets you pass those home-made goodies straight through to your lucky guests salivating on the patio.
Of course, your apartment will be serviced daily, unless you'd like it otherwise, with fresh linen changes twice a week. Personal laundry can be done in The Majestic Village laundry room, a few metres from the apartment.
Things to do in and around Kalk Bay:
When it comes to art, antiques, books, music and good food, you'll have to spend weeks in this little harbour village to experience everything! Plus, you'll never need to get into a car...galleries, museums, fabulous (some of them world-famous) restaurants, antique and craft shops are all within a 2km radius.
Should you feel more energetic, you have several beautiful tidal pools and great swimming beaches a shell's throw away.
A 15 minute walk will get you to the famous St. James swimming beach with its row of colourful change rooms you've probably seen on many post cards.
The beaches of Fish hoek and Muizenberg are a 5 min drive away, or for those who like a brisk walk, about 25 minutes' walk.
Go cycling along the breath-taking Cape Point route (Harbour Place is situated right on this route) or hike in the beautiful nature reserve at the base of the mountain right behind the apartment.
Living the Village Life:
As a guest at Harbour Place, there are many treats in store for you. Your holiday apartment is part of The Majestic Village, a cluster of beautifully restored old Kalk Bay landmarks and buildings which have been converted into residential and commercial properties, all safely tucked behind an elegant stone wall, enjoying 24-hour security.
The Munnik Spa and Wellness Centre:
Enjoy full use of the pool and wellness centre on The Majestic Village estate. Situated in the original Ballroom of the old Majestic Hotel, the Wellness Centre Boasts a mini-gym (to work off those fabulous Brass Bell meals), steam room and sauna, 2 beauty salon cubicles where you can book and pay for massages, facials and a variety of spa treatments as well as a Yoga and Pilates studio.
Baby Sitting and Child Minding:
Between 19h00 and 24h00, a baby sitting and Child minding service is available at an hourly rate. It is run by Harbour Place's Manager, Suzaan Fourie, a trained primary school teacher of almost 10 years.
The Majestic Deli and Coffee Shop:
Stock the fridge with yummy imported cold cuts and sausages, pickles, cheese and peppers. Buy fresh bread and rolls, cold drinks, everything you need for impromptu beach picnics.
Or order good Italian coffee and a mouthwatering piece of cake or a healthy salad from the Coffee shop.
The WineSense Wine Bar:
Ever wished you had the capacity (and money) to sample the pride of South Africa’s and the world’s wine estates in a short visit to the Cape? Well, now you can.
The WineSense Wine Bar on the Majestic Village Estate offers a new concept in the enjoyment of wine. Equipped with “draft-style” wine dispensers, it gives you the opportunity to taste several wines without having to purchase an entire bottle. Of course, nothing stops you from buying an entire case or two once you’ve discovered your favourite.
Kalk Bay Books:
This quaint book shop is located in the old “Klipkantien” (Stone Saloon), designed by renowned architect John Parker and built in 1913. Here you’ll find all the holiday reading matter that really matters in a charming environment steeped in local history.
