The lodge is built on the border of Kibale Forest, on a beautiful piece of land with a splendid view of Kibale Forest and the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains. As the name implies, Chimps' Nest is often visited by monkeys, chimps, and forest elephants. The lodge is situated near Nyabubale, a small village between Nkingo and Bigodi.

Chimp's Nest is a true birder's paradise, virtually all 350 bird species of Kibale Forest and the bordering Bigodi Swamps can be observed on the premises. Explore our private walking trails through the forest and witness it all for yourself. We also offer night walks with high chances of seeing bush babies and the other animals of the night. The lodge is an excellent starting point for day trips to the crater lakes, Semuliki National Park, Semliki Wildlife Reserve and Rwenzori Mountains.

A visit to Chimps' Nest means you will have a good and comfortable stay in our original and cosy self-contained cottages, Family Cottage, self-contained Tree Houses, dormitories and on our private campsite. All cottages are positioned to guarantee optimal privacy. From your private balcony you can enjoy the wildlife and the magnificent view of Kibale Forest, with the surrounding sounds of birds, monkeys, chimps and elephants.

Our restaurant serves tasty meals in a warm and inviting environment with friendly service. Our friendly and helpful staff members are all locals. We buy almost all of our supplies and food from the surrounding villages. You're welcome to try our local honey, peanut butter, and filtered coffee.

Chimps' Nest cares about preserving the environment and natural resources; local people built it using natural materials and the electricity we use is solar powered. All this makes Chimps' Nest an eco-friendly lodge.

Activities include chimp trekking, birdwatching, night walks, nature walks through Kibale Forest or the Bigodi Swamp area, mountain biking, visiting the local people and visiting one of the crater lakes or go for a swim.

Chimps' Nest also provides a nice campsite. People with their own tent can choose to camp uphill with a splendid view of the forest, or downhill inside the jungle. The campers have sufficient access to flushing toilets, wash basins and warm showers.

The Family Cottage is built on a beautiful location at the river Dura, inside the forest. It has two bedrooms with flexible beds of either twin beds or double beds, a living room, a spacious bathroom with a hot shower, a separate flush toilet and a large balcony hovering over the river. There is space for one extra mattress on the floor with mosquito nets in each bedroom. We have room service available, so guests don't have to walk up and down the hill all the time. A radio is provided to call for room service or emergencies.

Our cottages are situated on the west side of a hill, all with a splendid view of the Kibale Forest and the Rwenzori Mountains. From your private balcony you can enjoy the wildlife. The cottages have two single beds that can be shifted together to make a double bed. The room is spacious enough for a third bed on request. The bathroom has a hot and cold shower, a washbasin and a flush toilet is accessible from the living room, but has no roof. This gives you the ultimate feeling of being inside the forest.

We offer two Tree Houses in the jungle for the adventurous guests, built high in a tree, about 8 to 10 meters high. This gives the unique opportunity to stay on eye level with the monkeys who visit the Tree Houses daily and the jungle surrounding it. On an average day, guests can see more than five species of monkeys and sometimes even chimps. The Tree Houses are nearby the elephant walking trails, so if you are lucky you might spot them walking around in the night or early morning. The Tree Houses have a large balcony, a shower and a toilet on the first floor and a large bedroom on the second floor.
