GREAT GETAWAY - We found Parys a beautiful little town, nice old houses.
People are very nice well done Parys
Break from City Not too far away - Small town with all necessities lovely shops & good place to go just to have a break. Quick drive to get there.
Nice - Parys is a small town but alive with lot of activities and attractions.
Adventure Weekend - We spent a long weekend in Parys. For us, it was a chance to get away and have some adventures that we normally would not. We stayed at La Splendia Guest Lodge, which is warm and inviting, like a home away from home. We also booked with real Adventures for river rafting and quad biking. The experience was phenomenal. Would most definitely do it again. The boutiques are amazing for good quality unique clothing at a reasonable price. All the small restaurants and bars are experiences I would recommend to anybody.
Lots of junk shops - April 2015 was my first time back since about 2002. In 2002 it was mainly artists with a couple of real antique shops, now it is mainly junk shops with a couple of art galleries and real antique shops. The proliferation of overpriced junk shops is quite amusing - no real bargains to be found as they have probably already been sold to Gauteng antique shops. A very pleasant week-end though.
Nice - Lovey Quaint litle Town
Parys - We enjoyed the restaurants as well as the Hartelus fees. Always a pleasure to visit Parys.

Parys wonderful place - Always great visiting the place. Peaceful & laid back town
Outdoor activities - River rafting was the highlight of the holiday. Will definitely go back for the other adventure sports, i.e abseiling, quad bikes, hiking etc.
Great scenery - The surrounding area is bountiful with natural beauty. Its a pity the town is a bit of a building site at the moment with the high street being dug up and many of the other roads heavily pot-holed. Odd to be doing that at the height of the tourist season?
Parys - The gross neglect of basic services like well maintained roads, clean and well maintained sidewalks and safe and pure drinking water are shocking. Hats of to the local business people who are doing their best to maintain some semblance of status as a venue of choice. Without your valiant efforts Parys would have disappeared off the map. In fairness it must be said that efforts to at least bring the main street to an acceptable standard, seem to be underway.
Terra Terre Blanche
City slickers - A lovely town to spend some time in!
Fantastic weekend destination - Had an amazing weekend in Parys. Unfortunately their roads are bad but are in the process of being repaired. Not too far from Johannesburg for a quick weekend away.

I love Parys in the Spring time! - Love, love Parys. It is a very quaint little town with great restaurants and challenging golf courses.
Ruby's is a fantastic restaurant - the best bread we have ever tasted and great food as well!
This is a good destination for a golf tour. It's got everything you need.
What a STUNNING little town! - I am in love! Had the most amazing time in Parys! The people are so friendly, and the uniqueness of all the cute restaurants just captured my attention.
A must-see for everyone who enjoys small unique cute shops, coffee shops and restaurants with unique décor and look.
Golf Trip to Parys - Lovely friendly town, would go back again. The golf courses are beautiful and well maintained.
Needs lots and lots of work - Parys could be a beautiful destination, however, it looks abandoned and not maintained. The roads are mess. Yes, it looks like they are being redone, but some streets have been left to their own ill fate. What is the municipality doing? MIMOSA Park has been run down. Too much of a mess to even put in words. With good maintenance it will be a beautiful park to relax in by the river.
Parys - Beautiful Free State jewel but the roads need more than serious attention.
Parys Free State - Lovely shopping and eating venues, but the town and roads need serious attention regarding fixing up, painting and POTHOLES!
Parys. The adventure town - Lions, Crocodiles, Paddling the rapids, Quad biking to the quarry, Game Drive with Rhinos, Eating out, playing with white lion cubs and baby Caracal. And all this in one weekend?
We have still so much to do here and will be back
Parys - Lovely quiet town with friendly people. Great getaway from JHB and very peaceful with no worries about security!
Parys potholes and antique shops - Parys is awesome. Love, love the shops and tea rooms. Just sorry Divas was closed the whole time we were there.
Claim to fame for Parys - worst potholes ever. You need a GPS to find your way out if you drive into one by accident.
Loved Parys - Loved Parys! Except the 2 000 000 potholes! My word can't that be seen to?
Nice place - Really nice place. Lovely restaurants and lots of shops to browse through. well worth the time spent their.
Outdoor Parys - Lovely place with many outdoor activities (rafting and horse riding) and some quaint shops to keep you busy. Lovely restaurants on the river as well to pass the time.
Parys - Very interesting place. Close to JHB for a weekend getaway. Loved it

Great - Great place, just want to know what happened fo The Heritage Site in Vredefort (its all closed down?)
Cute shops, delicious food and very friendly people. The municipality should wake up and spruce up the roads - it's not pleasant driving through town and dodging the potholes.
Parys - Nice town but the roads need a lot of attention. Visited the antique shops and found the people very friendly. Ate at two fabuous restaurants. Overall, our stay was great. Will return in the future.
Quaint little town - Quaint little town with many attractions including a World Heritage Site on the doorstep. The town's infrastructure has been severely neglected, particularly the roads. They are really in a bad state from the continuous passage of 40 ton trucks. The town really needs a bypass road so that the HGV's can circumvent.
Quaint little town - Parys is a quaint little town with lovely wedding venues, stores and cute restaurants. It is a lovely place to visit - about an hour's drive outside Johannesburg. Restaurants are a bit pricey as they are priced for tourists. It's a great town to visit if you need a Sunday out of the city.
A mix match - A town with huge potential as a tourist destination but which unfortunately is severely neglected. The town has wonderful little shops and restaurants. But the town as whole is going down the drain it seems. If you stray from Main street (where most of the tourist attractions are) you will be face with the general decay so evident in a lot of the small towns of this country. The town roads for instance are atrocious and severely potholed. It is such a shame as the town has a lot going for it in terms of location and proximity to the large cities. Maybe the town fathers should go visit tourists towns like Clarens and Dullstroom to see what is possible.
Peaceful - Charming little town to lay back and watch the world go by.
Great place - Wat n great dorpie.
Fun - We enjoyed all the little shops, each with its own unique personality. Every eating house or restaurant we tried was excellent. I really recommend it for a grand day out.
Great little town - Great little town

Beautiful Parys - Love it! The best little town.
Furniture Paradys - We were amazed at all the antique and second hand furniture shops. One in particular you would pass by but if you happen to go inside, you will be amazed. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
Watch out for the Vervet Monkeys if you are staying near the river.
Hank Bezuidenhout on Parys - Parys is a friendly and relaxing town with interesting shops. Good quality restuarants and coffee shops. Plenty of good accommodation to choose from in town as well as out of town.
Negative point is the closure of Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site and no signs or notice that it is closed. Also the suspension bridge is in a shocking state and is not worth the visit. Should update all tourist info regarding this.
Besides these two points, still Well worth a trip to Parys.
Parys: Jewel of the Free State - Parys is a truly wonderful little town and it has sorely tempted me to re-locate from the chaos of city life ! The shopping is lovely and the people are so friendly ! Highly recommend it for a relaxing break.
Parys - Parys is a quaint little village with lots of interesting shops. Enjoyed browsing in the shops but wished there was a nice sweet shop as there is in Dullstroom.
Parys town - Parys is a very small town and what a lovely town
Great tourist attraction and a lot of art and antique shops.
Parys needs to attend to the roads it is very bad.
Pity about the potholes! - We always enjoy shopping in Parys. We attended a wedding at Kiepersol, which is a great wedding venue. Some of the wedding quests were from the UK and unfortunately it was embarrassing to drive on roads with so many potholes in it.
Parys - Parys is an excelent weekend destination.
Parys as a destination - Close enough from JHB and far enough to make you feel that you are going away for the weekend. The town is small and well looked after. the roads need a little work but they are not as bad as the roads in Sandton. The town has everything you need and the people are friendly and always willing to help and offer advice.
Thabela Thabeng - Parys - Close to the city and excellent for a quick weekend get-away.
Poor Parys - Parys used to be a quiet and well kept town but everything has changed. The roads are poor and the shops are so much the same. The town has become somewhat deserted with very basic infrastructure and poor service at the restaurants..
Parys - Parys is a nice small and quiet town. But did not like the roads and the garbage that was lying in and around the river.
