Parys - Beautiful Free State jewel but the roads need more than serious attention.
Parys Free State - Lovely shopping and eating venues, but the town and roads need serious attention regarding fixing up, painting and POTHOLES!
Parys. The adventure town - Lions, Crocodiles, Paddling the rapids, Quad biking to the quarry, Game Drive with Rhinos, Eating out, playing with white lion cubs and baby Caracal. And all this in one weekend?
We have still so much to do here and will be back
Parys - Lovely quiet town with friendly people. Great getaway from JHB and very peaceful with no worries about security!
Parys potholes and antique shops - Parys is awesome. Love, love the shops and tea rooms. Just sorry Divas was closed the whole time we were there.
Claim to fame for Parys - worst potholes ever. You need a GPS to find your way out if you drive into one by accident.
Loved Parys - Loved Parys! Except the 2 000 000 potholes! My word can't that be seen to?
Nice place - Really nice place. Lovely restaurants and lots of shops to browse through. well worth the time spent their.
Outdoor Parys - Lovely place with many outdoor activities (rafting and horse riding) and some quaint shops to keep you busy. Lovely restaurants on the river as well to pass the time.
Parys - Very interesting place. Close to JHB for a weekend getaway. Loved it

Great - Great place, just want to know what happened fo The Heritage Site in Vredefort (its all closed down?)
Cute shops, delicious food and very friendly people. The municipality should wake up and spruce up the roads - it's not pleasant driving through town and dodging the potholes.
Parys - Nice town but the roads need a lot of attention. Visited the antique shops and found the people very friendly. Ate at two fabuous restaurants. Overall, our stay was great. Will return in the future.
Quaint little town - Quaint little town with many attractions including a World Heritage Site on the doorstep. The town's infrastructure has been severely neglected, particularly the roads. They are really in a bad state from the continuous passage of 40 ton trucks. The town really needs a bypass road so that the HGV's can circumvent.
Quaint little town - Parys is a quaint little town with lovely wedding venues, stores and cute restaurants. It is a lovely place to visit - about an hour's drive outside Johannesburg. Restaurants are a bit pricey as they are priced for tourists. It's a great town to visit if you need a Sunday out of the city.
A mix match - A town with huge potential as a tourist destination but which unfortunately is severely neglected. The town has wonderful little shops and restaurants. But the town as whole is going down the drain it seems. If you stray from Main street (where most of the tourist attractions are) you will be face with the general decay so evident in a lot of the small towns of this country. The town roads for instance are atrocious and severely potholed. It is such a shame as the town has a lot going for it in terms of location and proximity to the large cities. Maybe the town fathers should go visit tourists towns like Clarens and Dullstroom to see what is possible.
Peaceful - Charming little town to lay back and watch the world go by.
Great place - Wat n great dorpie.
Fun - We enjoyed all the little shops, each with its own unique personality. Every eating house or restaurant we tried was excellent. I really recommend it for a grand day out.
Great little town - Great little town

Beautiful Parys - Love it! The best little town.
Furniture Paradys - We were amazed at all the antique and second hand furniture shops. One in particular you would pass by but if you happen to go inside, you will be amazed. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
Watch out for the Vervet Monkeys if you are staying near the river.
Hank Bezuidenhout on Parys - Parys is a friendly and relaxing town with interesting shops. Good quality restuarants and coffee shops. Plenty of good accommodation to choose from in town as well as out of town.
Negative point is the closure of Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site and no signs or notice that it is closed. Also the suspension bridge is in a shocking state and is not worth the visit. Should update all tourist info regarding this.
Besides these two points, still Well worth a trip to Parys.
Parys: Jewel of the Free State - Parys is a truly wonderful little town and it has sorely tempted me to re-locate from the chaos of city life ! The shopping is lovely and the people are so friendly ! Highly recommend it for a relaxing break.
Parys - Parys is a quaint little village with lots of interesting shops. Enjoyed browsing in the shops but wished there was a nice sweet shop as there is in Dullstroom.
Parys town - Parys is a very small town and what a lovely town
Great tourist attraction and a lot of art and antique shops.
Parys needs to attend to the roads it is very bad.
Pity about the potholes! - We always enjoy shopping in Parys. We attended a wedding at Kiepersol, which is a great wedding venue. Some of the wedding quests were from the UK and unfortunately it was embarrassing to drive on roads with so many potholes in it.
Parys - Parys is an excelent weekend destination.
Parys as a destination - Close enough from JHB and far enough to make you feel that you are going away for the weekend. The town is small and well looked after. the roads need a little work but they are not as bad as the roads in Sandton. The town has everything you need and the people are friendly and always willing to help and offer advice.
Thabela Thabeng - Parys - Close to the city and excellent for a quick weekend get-away.
Poor Parys - Parys used to be a quiet and well kept town but everything has changed. The roads are poor and the shops are so much the same. The town has become somewhat deserted with very basic infrastructure and poor service at the restaurants..
Parys - Parys is a nice small and quiet town. But did not like the roads and the garbage that was lying in and around the river.
Nice - Nice little town. Very artistic.
Parys - Their roads are terrible.
Parys - This was my first visit to Parys. It is a quaint town and, although small, had all I could possibly need. Their local coffee shop was superb and we even found some exceptional christmas gifts for loved ones there.
We had a flat tyre while there and had no problems at all finding a replacement. The service was excellent and the staff well-versed and friendly.
At only two hours from Johannesburg it is also convenient and with the Vaal River on it's doorstep, there are lots of activities to keep the family and adrenalin junkie alike occupied.

Golf Parys - There are two beautiful golf courses. Great experience.
holiday - great
Parys - Beutiful Town lost in time. Lots of sites to see and adventure to keep you occupied. People are freindly. Will deff go back for a longer stay.
A surprise - I was last in Parys as a child and was surprised at the change. Beautiful little coffee shops and antique/art/gift stores the streets. We loved it and will return.
Parys - Cute little town, friendly people and nice views on the Vaal. Loved the art and Antiques shoppes! Will return!
Beautiful and relaxing - The best food ever, nice and friendly atmosphere
parys - stunning relaxing
Friendly waiters - I was absolutely delighted to see so many friendly waiters and waitresses at various venues. They were all very well groomed and there service was warm and proffessional. We felt SPECIAL in there presence. I think Parys as a whole is very under rated and I intend to get to know the place better, especially the wildlife and game ranches side of it, of whom I had good reports. Ruby's restaurant is a must. It transfers one right into Paris, France.
Parys - undiscovered jewel of the Free State - Parys is a pensioner's paradise... What? We thought so... BUT - Parys is a town full of surprises. The main street (Bree Street) is packed with beautiful shops competing who looks the most stunning.. The restaurants are full of atmosphere, the people relaxed and friendly and the food is good (and much cheaper than anywhere else). You will find gift shops, art galleries and lovely gardens everywhere. It's only 15 mins drive from Vredefort where you can book a guide around the Dome. The river is beautiful and offers a wide range of pretty spots for photographers. In short: Parys is THE place to be!

Parys - 1. Small quiet town
2. The resturants appear to be closing early on Saturday afternoon
3. Appears to be a ok place to get away from the Joburg rush
4. There can be language barries with Afrikaans appears to be dominating
Little place called heaven - If you want to rest, relax and just spend time in nature, away from all the city hassle, you must go to Parys.
If you ask the people about the history, they can talk for hours on. This is a little place with alot of kindness, laughter and fun. People are friendly.
The senery is beautiful and there so much to do, sometimes in so little time. Outdoor events and sites to die for.
For us as family we like to get away from the "city life " feeling, and along the river we found peace and quiet. We could spent time with our childern and have well deserved family time.
We would recommend this to our friends.

Eiffel Tower of Parys - As you see the miniature “Eiffel Tower” of Parys, you know that you have come to a very special place. The locals know and care about each other and can tell you a tale or two about their town or the people there. If you stay in the town, you can leave your car parked for the weekend and walk from one side of town to the other having lots of snack and drink breaks. We love to go into all the quaint shops and we have found many bargains from furniture, paintings and sculptures to some good retail therapy for the lady. If you choose to stay on the outside of town there is some good and friendly accommodation to be found next to the Vaal River.
We have tried all the eating joints and find the atmosphere so relaxing with such a variety to choose from, even to having sundowners next to the river.
It is a bargain, a treat, a pleasure to go to Parys for our long weekends and we have sent friends and family there too.
