It's a nice place - We didn't do much. We were mostly at the cottages, but from what I could see passingly, it's a great place to visit with friends and family.
So much culture and history yet so close to Joburg - So much culture and history yet so close to Joburg
Lovely escape - We love escaping to Magaliesburg for a getaway with family or as a romantic weekend. It is close to Centurion and has lots to do and see! We love the Black Horse Restaurant, especially their beer and strawberry gratinni. We also love the Colonial! What a great place - we felt so at home!
A retreat - Magalies caters for different moods, adventure sports or lay back and relax in the bushveld, whichever retreat you are looking for, Magalies has got it!
Beautiful place with lots to do - Magaliesburg is a beautiful area with lots of activities to do within a good distance. Will visit again.
A real chill - Excellent for relaxed outings. So much to do in the vicinity.
Mulderdrift is still waiting to be discovered - I didn't spend time in Muldersdrift. Maybe next time.
Good - Good
Beautiful area - Broederstroom can do without places like Cynthia`s Country House
Feedback report - Is a lovely place with lots of accommodation
Broederstroom - I loved the area and will most certainly visit again!

Beautiful - Magaliesburg is still somewhere that I love to go. It's so close to home, yet you feel like you're in the wilderness somewhere far away. The sights are beautiful, the peace when you in the remote areas is heaven. Watching a hot air balloon go up at sunrise is really a majestic sight. I'd recommend anyone that wants a restful weekend away to head for Magaliesburg. It's just plain beautiful.
Feel at home - Nice place to go and relax, candle making was nice and going down mine was also great, lots of places to visit
Quiet - Not a huge amount to do with small children although there are a few restaurants and cafes with playgrounds. Nice to go to escape from Joburg.

Barton Folly - Ideal place for daily trips.

Picture perfect mountains - Quiet and serene... perfect for a weekend getaway out of town as the drive is really not that far and lots to see and do in the area!
Amazing! - Love, love, love magalies!
Krugersdorp - Excellent destination. Has many sights of interest. Close to other interesting places as well.
Magaliesburg - Magaliesburg is beautiful and a short drive from Joburg. There is also The Cradle of Humankind and Maropeng nearby.
Beautiful Scenery - I think it’s underrated as a getaway. It offers scenic views of the mountains and the dam and is easily accessible from Joburg and Pretoria. It offers a lot, especially for mountain biking enthusiasts. It is equally good for those who love the outdoors and anyone who just wants to relax indoors.
The only problem is that if you want to go on a boat ride, you need to pay the entry fee to the animal sanctuary. I think the business model is distasteful and should be structured so that it is either a package or an option to visit the animal sanctuary, not forced on patrons who simply want a boat cruise.
Relaxing - Magaliesburg is such a good place to go to for relaxing.
Great Holiday - wild experience - Great area to visit - plenty to do and see.
Magaliesburg - I love Magalies there is so many places to explore and to stay at.
City of Harmony - While we were at Sterkfontein Heritage Lodge we took our time to drive around the city it was so peaceful and quiet and it felt like a great place to escape the busy life style in the other cities where we come from.
Great place! - Good hiking.
Thaba-ntletse - It's beautiful! The mountains surrounding the area makes a perfect picture.
Glorious Muldersdrift - Amidst the glorious rolling hills of the Cradle of Humankind, this lovely area of Muldersdrift is still pristine and welcoming. So much to do, so much to see - a bit of everything for everybody. And rounded off with an evening braai against the backdrop of a vivid African sunset. We love it!
Magalies Historic Gold Mine - In 1874, the gold reef was first discovered by the Australian prospector, Henry Lewis. The mine was operated without mechanical equipment and was hand-dug through quartzite and shale in pursuit of the vein of gold ore. Placed at the top of the hill overlooking Magaliesburg, the Historic Mine has a panoramic view of the settlement and its surrounding hills.
Tours of the mine are given by knowledgeable Tour Guides and the outing provides insight into the historic workings on a mine. Gold panning in the earliest manner is experienced at the end of the tour
A visit to the mine is a unique experience and should not be missed if you are in the area.
Awesome! - Beautiful!
Cradle of Humankind - Rhino and Lion Reserve - During our stay in Magaliesberg, we visited the Lion and Rhino Reserve in the Cradle of Humankind precinct. The Reserve is a nice start to seeing wildlife in South Africa. The setup is like a real game reserve, but due to its limited size, you'll see a lot of game. In the wildlife crèche, one can literally get in touch with predators, which was an unforgettable experience for the kids. Obviously, it is no true wilderness.

Overview of the Magaliesburg - Accommodation is overpriced for the area and what is offered (a two night rule over weekends is a negative).
Sport - We were in town for sport. Comfortable stay, enough restaurants. Nice stay at Old house Bed and breakfast.
A good place for a short break - Close enough to Pretoria and Johannesburg to be able to go for a short break without having to 'trek' too far. Situated on the rural border of the western outskirts of Jo'burg makes it ideal as there are many small BnBs or Guest houses at affordable prices that provide a real 'off the beaten track' experience. Being in close proximity to Krugersdorp and Roodepoort is also great as popping to the shops is within reach of a reasonable drive. Heading to the Botanical Gardens for a picnic is a great outing and going in the opposite direction, Magaliesburg and Hartbeespoort make for a pleasant day trip as well.

Cradle - The Cradle of Humankind was the best place to be. We were able to explore all the tourist attractions we could possibly think of:
The Sterkfontein Caves offered much fun and adventure and lots of memorable photos.
Maropeng was SO MUCH FUN especially the Vortex tunnel WOW.
The Lion and Rhino Park was so amazing. People were friendly and the animals were lovely. The lion cubs were so cute and soft and fun to play with!
The Wonder Caves with its amazing sculptures was also a great addition and grand finale.
Definitely comes highly recommended. All these have excellent tour guides who are more than happy to assist wherever possible.
Lovely activities to perfect our honeymoon :)
Need more maps and info about walking trails - Magaliesburg is easily accessible for a weekend getaway, but most websites don't have clear information about what is available, i.e. we tried to download a map to plan our hike with our 3 kids before arriving at Mountain Sanctuary Park but no map was available. We need more information to be able to plan ahead.
Magaliesburg retreat - Chose the area for number one short trip. Two the scenery. Three just chilling out away from work.
Awesome! - Broederstroom is a wonderful getaway so close to Joburg but it feels like you're far away. There is so much to see and do and it is culturally rewarding.
Come taste our beer - Go to Magaliesberg! Forget your diet! Eat wonderful foods! Drink beer at the wonderful Black Horse brewery and Brauhaus Dam. What a great place to escape.
Great place for a quick getaway - I love getting away for a short break. Magaliesburg is fantastic as it is a short drive from JHB and has many great B and B's and self catering places available for people to stay overnight. Hiking, fishing, or just chilling out and taking in the scenery are amongst the things you can do in the area.
We didnt really - We didnt really do anything over the holiday period. But it is beautiful.
Scenery - It has the most breathe taking scenery
Hekpoort area is beautiful - Great scenery. The Goblins Grove is a very different destination. Loved the food and the premises are darling. A must see and visit for all.
