We were very disgusted at the whole setup, it ruined our entire stay.
Jacques Stander - Sunday, 07 January 2018
Upon arrival, the cleaner were still busy cleaning the house (14h00). They eventually finished by 16h30 that afternoon, and only then could we settle in.

The kids wanted to make use of the pool, but it was in such a horrific state, that we decided to fist clean it ourselves. It was very murky and full of leaves (pool filter doesn't work).

Came dinner, the stove didn't work. When we opened the stove, it was clear that it hasn't been cleaned for quite a while. We decided to make use of the gas braai on the stoep, as the weather didn't lean itself to a conventional wood braai. The gas braai was so filthy as well, we decided to skip that as well. Needless to say, we went out for dinner.

When we got back, the kids wanted to watch some tv. It didn't happen. The DStv is out of order, not working. Two days later, it still didn't work. I phoned DStv customer care, they couldn't help me either. I contacted the home owner. The issue was resolved for two minutes, then the picture was gone for the rest of our stay.

The very first night we went to bed, we noticed blood stains on our lined. Yes, you read correct, BLOOD! And a big pee or coffee stain as well. Looking up, we noticed rat feces above us on the mosquito net. We were disgusted to say the least!!! We decided to rather sleep with the kids in another room.

Next morning we noticed that the basins in the main bedroom's bathroom are clogged. So I went for a shower... Man, what a mistake! It wreaks of urine, because the drain is filled with small stones that traps all the dirt and goo and doesn't wash away. So I went for a bath instead that was also clogged. Apparently the cleaners have informed the home owner of the shower issue, but they don't bother.

Quite a few lights doesn't work and one of the aircon's were also out of order. One of the door handles are also broken.

I asked the home owner whether we can leave a day or two earlier because the house didn't meet our expectations. Her answer was that she doesn't have an agreement with us, but with the cleaning company. So she won't refund any money. So much for booking with SafariNow!

The house is in desperate need of maintenance! They advertise their establishment on Facebook as a 5-star establishment. It is very far from it!! Tiles lifting up, paint peeling from the walls, disgusting rotting blinds to cover the outside shower, dirty linen, stove, aircon and swimming pool filter not working, clogged drains - that is a very far cry from a 5-star lodge!

We are very dissapointed and we truly waisted our money! I will not recommend Marula Bush Villa at all!

Establishments response:

The guest did not mention that we responded to all the complains that we received the same day and he was satisfied. Some of his remarks are very unfair and out of perspective. Gheko's cause some droppings on the mozzi net. It is an open thatched roof.

Our cleaners went out to clear out and rectify all the complaints. We replaced the linen and a plumber was sent out immediately to attend to the drains. I'm not aware of an aircon not working or lights out of order. There was a rain storm the day they arrived which caused some leaves on the swimming pool.

If there was a lightbulb not working we would have replaced it. I received the complaint about the DSTV not working 4 days after they moved in. It was a Saterday and there were no technicians on call. I phoned DSTV myself and they told me that the DSTV is active. The guest then also confirm that it was working.

I told the guest that our cleaners will report back to me. If he would have left earlier I would consider giving him a refund but he stayed until the last day.
Spacious and relaxing.

We spent 4 nights at Marula Bush Lodge. It was great, not only for the fantastic accommodation in the peaceful wildlife estate, but also for the location with easy access to the Kruger Park and other necessary places.

Beautiful, spacious well-equipped home. We enjoyed our stay. Outdoor shower was great. Very quiet, so if you need excitement all the time you might get a bit bored.

The house is very nice with 3 bedrooms and all conveniences. Comfortable beds. When we were staying it was pretty cold and than you miss the possibility to have a fire in the house to warm up. Pool was too cold anyway but is very small.
Amazing

We had such a wonderful time. Marula Bush Lodge was a home away from home and just absolutely stunning - they really have thought of everything. We will definitely be back.
