At dusk the red/orange sunset views over the ocean towards Cape Town are breathtaking. At night time watch the brightly lit heavens where stars shine like floating chandeliers in the dark.
Close by you can enjoy a good coffee or a meal at a variety of coffee shops and restaurants. Visit the quaint villages of Pringle Bay and Rooi Els a few kilometres away from Silverdunes which boast beautiful beaches, magnificent scenery, art shops, and cosy coffee shops/restaurants.

During December spot the rare red Disa flower blooming high up on the cliffs where the Disa waterfall gushes down. All of this is inside the Kogelberg nature reserve, which is recognized as part of the UNESCO Biosphere Nature Reserve which also includes rare species of fynbos - roughly 1600 endemic species!
Hiking Trails There are several walking trails in this world-renowned and unique biosphere. Palmiet River Trail begins at the Reserve office. Walk the beautiful Palmiet River Trail in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. The trail follows the river where, in summer, one can cool off in some of the first few pools.
The incredible scenery and floral wonders make this four-hour walk very worthwhile. At the end of the walk, you can return for an eight-hour walk via the jeep track on the same route as the Kogelberg trail or along the footpath.
