About Natures Rest - Lapa

Nature's Rest - Lapa Oudtshoorn is a mountain bike and nature lovers dream. Set on a farm, located halfway between George and Oudtshoorn with a 'Klein Karoo' character, on the lovely Garden Route, in the Eden district. It is close to Herold, however not to be confused with Herold's Bay. The farm is off the grid with only solar power, an ideal tranquil getaway for nature lovers. Mountain bikers will love this farm as it is on Outeniqua Trail, and there are smaller trails on the farms itself. There are various units, camping and caravan sites available on the farm. Guests have use of a lapa, which contains 2 bedrooms, and a shared communal open-plan kitchen and lounge with an indoor fireplace for those cold Karoo evenings. Outside is a lapa is a large boma and braai with a deck for viewing stars at night and looking over the area. The farm is conveniently located between Oudtshoorn, George, Uniondale, Swartberg Mountain Range, Montagu and more, making this the ideal holiday location to explore the area. There are various mountain bike gravel roads around the farm to explore as well as short walking and biking trails. Bird watchers will love this area because of its quiet Karoo quietness and ample bird species found here.Protea Room has a double bed in 1 room and single bed adjacent to bathroom. Karoo room has double bed, single bunkbed and bathroom en-suite. The rooms are en suite with shower, toilet and basin. The room is separate from the lapa and can be rented separately. Linen and bath towels are supplied. There is a communal kitchen and braai area. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, all cutlery and a fridge-freezer. Please note that this farm is off grid and excessive electricity at night is not advised. The lounge has a sitting area and a TV with a fireplace place for cold Karoo evenings. There is a decoder but please bring along your own smart card. The lapa has a boma, braai and a bar area. There is also a view deck upstairs and caution is advised for smaller children. Ensure you bring all groceries and foodstuffs as well as drinking water. A 25-litre Oasis Water is supplied during your stay but extra water is for your own account. The water is brackish and cannot be consumed. There is a gravel road to the farm but it is wide and regularly scrapped, suitable for all vehicles.

Extremely disappointed. The room we booked was not what we received.

We stayed overnight on our way to the Cape. The location is well worth while travelling outside of Oudtshoorn town for, as it's super quiet and peaceful. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the place is very clean and cozy. The only improvement they should make in my opinion, is putting an intercom/remote controlled gate facility. To enter the place, one needs to call the owner to be let in and out, which is a bit unhandy as they need to drive out to the actual gate. I do believe that guests who stay longer get a remote. Also the check in- and out times can be a bit more flexible.Overal...
